None of this means anything until the commission reveals the results of the tests on the handwraps.

exactly. margarito spoke his piece on espn, his manager also spoke right after the fight. their story obviously differs from richardsons, what is taking the inept california commission so long to say whats what?

They already know. Have you considered conflicting schedules of the commissioners? These guys have jobs as well.

I'm sure they already have their mind made up. Judah and Tyson both had to appear before commissions to give their side before they were suspended. Did anyone see them going into the meeting expecting anything other than suspension for either?

conflicting schedules? it would only take a few minutes to send out a press release of their findings.

Then you'd have the margarito camp bitching saying they didn't have a fair shake and didn't get to tell their side prior to a decision being rendered.

    A no win situation here.

doesnt seem like margarito is getting much of a fair shake so far. judging by this place, everyone has made up their mind on him

The commissioner claimed (to HBO) the stuff was in the process of "hardening" on fight night.

As far as I'm concerned, the more troubling part was the explanation from the Margarito camp. I didn't read it as they were saying it DIDN'T harden...they were explaining why it happened. Came off to me as they were saying, "yes they hardened but we didn't mean it." That's from the guy who wrapped the hands. Tony's version was, "they were concerned about the amount of tape on my wrist."

Two different versions...neither match what Richardson said (to be expected)

Does 'plaster' even harden in a glove environment when it is drenched in sweat and there is barely any oxygen? And in an hour?

The evidence is being tested by the California Justice Department which means they already know that it wasn't a mere accidental wrapping and something more serious. I just hope that the Justice Department lab technician isn't a mexican or a Margarito fan.:warning:

I was sort of hoping the tech was previously a Tijuana cabbie who caught a beating from Margarito. :dunno: Paybacks being a bitch and all

I think the Cotto rematch is just about fucked now. Arum better start looking for a replacement.

The attorney general of the state of California has much more shit to do than attend a boxing hearing and grandstand. He has nothing to do with the boxing commission. Now the PENALTY portion, he has something to do with. This is a HEARING.

Here is the AG's job description:

which in a way is a shame, imo. i think the best possible thing to do is to have Margarito wrap his hands in front of a camera with Cotto's people and commissioners watching every second of it - then have a rematch and see what happens.

It a real damn shame. I really want to see a Cotto rematch but one has to think what Cotto has left. How will he react. The questions will be answered very soon.
