The last guy was Marquez in 2008. Thats only 7 fights ago including this upcoming opponent. If you want to go back further to his previous 7 fights before the Marquez rematch 5 of them were coming off loses, not exactly Floyds fault.

It's crazy you somehow find a way to discredit a resume that is by far better than any other current fighter.

Cotto was coming off a win over Clottey, a top 10 WW in every ranking.
Hatton was coming off a TKO win over Malignaggi, a top 10 Jr Welter.
David Diaz was coming off a win over Morales. (two fights earlier)

Basically, Manny's resume at WW shits on Floyds.

I was kind of impressed that Hatton dominated and stopped Paulie. I thougth it was a great win for him. Cotto couldn't stop Paulie.

please. Manny's not choosy about who he fights. the only fair criticism is that he's fought too many catch-weight fights. now that's what everyone should be flaming him about. that's bull-shit.

Well, it's not like Hatton KO'd him or something, his corner threw in the towel. It could have gone the distance. Truth is Cotto beat Malignaggi up bad, Hatton just got some clean shots in there but Paulie could have made it to the end.

The best highlights in Hatton's career are of him getting KTFO.

When Floyd fights a guy coming off a loss hes handpicked but when Manny does it hes not choosy. Gotta love the double standards from boxing fans.

Double standards? Are you in some way trying to imply that Floyd has been just as ballsy as Manny when it comes to agreeing and facing the best challenges available?:atu:

    Forget Floyd for a moment...

    The dude had a point..

Cotto was damaged goods...destroyed recently by Margarito
Hatton lost his feeling of invincibility after being beaten up and stopped by Mayweather.
    David Diaz wasn't all that.

Still i agree that Pacquiao has one hell of a resume.

I understand your point on Hatton, but still thought it was a heck of a performance by him, considering both the opponent (Paulie was a Top 3-5ish JWW at the time) and the fact that everyone thought Ricky was damaged goods.

Beyond that, it's definitely a fair point that far more forgiveness is granted towards Pacquiao than really any other fighter today, not just Floyd.

No it doesn't. It was true up until Floyd fought Shane. That's when the argument went out the window.

    Oscar/Cotto/Clottey.
    Judah/Baldomir/Hatton/Mosley

I'm not even sure I'd immediately dismiss claims that Floyd's WW resume is slightly better, to be honest.

Cotto would have stopped Paulie had McGirt been working his corner. Cotto beat Paulie much, much worse.

Also, Morales beat Diaz on my card. Cotto didn't look very good vs. Clottey. Results and records don't always tell the whole story.

There's no arguement that can be made against the fact that Hatton and Cotto were looking vulnerable going into the Pacquiao fights. Cotto moreso.

Still, you can't fuck with Pacquiao's resume.

Didn't Floyd just beat a guy that Roach said was too dangerous and wanted to make him come in at 143 or lower.

Oscar was as much of a welterweight as Marquez was. Neither had any business at that weight class for opposite reasons.

I agree... except that Oscar actually weighed in for a welterweight fight.

Marquez didn't - nor was he told that it was a welterweight fight until the week of.

That's why I left off Marquez' name. Pacquaio-DLH was always sanctioned as a welterweight fight.

Nah... the fact that we're picking apart his resume was WELTER says it all. The fact that he was willing to step in the ring with the Cotto's, Hatton's and Clottey's is great... that he beat them, incredible. Pacquiao is a very small man.

He's made it look so easy that people forget how remarkable these acomplishments are.

The way I look at it is Cotto beat Mosley and Clottey beat Judah. Is that not a fair point? If you want to talk about shotness or damaged goods, how about factoring in how bad Mosley just looked in his very next fight after Floyd?

Yeah but you can also look at it as Mosley destroyed Margarito and Margarito destroyed Cotto. :kidcool:

but Margarito never fought either of them (Floyd, or Pac until Nov 13) so that's really not applicable. I know you're just making a funny, but Z's logic actually makes a lot of sense.
