We haven't done this for a while. Has the passage of time changed your perspective? Brought down them scales? Made u see the light? Give us ur list ... no need to justify it. Just ur goddamn list. 1. Ali 2. Louis 3. Lewis 4. Holmes 5. Tyson 6. Holyfield 7. Liston 8. Frazier 9. Foreman 10. Johnson
Top 20 Heavyweights 1. Joe Louis 2. Muhammad Ali 3. Larry Holmes 4. Jack Johnson 5. Rocky Marciano 6. Jack Dempsey 7. George Foreman 8. Joe Frazier 9. Lennox Lewis 10. Gene Tunney 11. Sonny Liston 12. Evander Holyfield 13. Mike Tyson 14. Jim Jefferies 15. Riddick Bowe 16. Ezzard Charles 17. Jersey Joe Walcott 18. Ken Norton 19. Floyd Patterson 20. Sam Langford
1) Lennox Lewis 2) Joe Louis 3) Larry Holmes 4) Mohammed Ali 5) Rocky Marciano 6) Jack Johnson 7) George Foreman 8) Joe Frazier 9) Gene Tunney 10)Evander Holyfield
Good List!!! One of the best I've seen. 1. Ali 2. Louis 3. Foreman 4. Holmes 5. Holyfield 6. Lewis 7. Tyson 8. Johnson 9. Marciano 10.Liston Honorable mention to Dempsey....
btw..Anyone who puts Joe Frazier ahead of Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson or Evander Holyfield..should be ignored by all members of the forum for at least a month. Left hook Frazier ONLY beat a comebacking after 3 years layoff Ali...and that's it.
Arguments can be made for that... Evander was the first person to beat Riddick Bowe, beat a much better version of Tyson than Lewis beat..won the title 3 times (before Lennox did it) and had far more exciting fights (Dokes, Cooper, tyson, Bowe 3 times, Foreman, Stewart, Mercer). I can accept Lewis over Evander as well...but NO WAY Frazier is greater or better than either.....
1930 -> Based on who was best. 1. Ali 2. Louis 3. Holmes 4. Lewis 5. Foreman 6. Tyson 7. Holyfield 8. Liston 9. Frazier T. Marciano
It's unrealistic to expect ALL posts to be lists only! We have intelligence and we often need to justify our positions when called on them. :tease:
JJ Jeffries Joe Louis Rocky Marciano Joe Frazier Muhammad Ali Larry Homeless Mike Tyson Riddick Bowe George Foreman Lennox Lewis
:nono: Tarver's resume is drastically poorer than Roy Jones, you have to take that into account,..we cannot say the same for Lennox Lewis,..:eeeek: or can you?..
Fair enough...but I'm illustrating that beating someone TWICE head to head is IRRELEVANT in isolation!! So let's look at the other factors: Evander in the late 90s was generally considered to be past his prime..Lennox however was generally considered to be peaking. Even IF Evander is only a couple years older than Lewis..in boxing terms Evander was teh much older fighter because he had turned pro 4 years earlier and had been involved in more wars. My point is..the BEST Lennox only managed to escape with a win and a draw over a FADED Evander...and IF you think objectively that the first fight was a WIN for Lennox...then you must (to be consistent)...call the second fight a DRAW! Besides it's apparent that Evander looked badly in the first fight because his ridiculous 3rd round prediction wasn't fulfilled and he had no plan B.
Guys like Jack Johnson shouldn't be in there. Not a chance at top 10, maybe the top 20, but he simply wasn't top 10 material. If he was so hot-shit, then why did he need 45 minutes to get rid of a former heavyweight champ, who was chronically obese and injured, and who had been out for 6 freakin' years??? Johnson also lost by KO to one of the WORST titlists of all times, Willard. Don't go getting upset either, Jack Dempsey isn't on my list, and neither are other great heavyweights like Gerry Quarry {who could have beaten Frazier as easily as he lost to him} or Ron Lyle, or Oscar Bonavena. All of those guys were nap-tuck with greats like Foreman and Frazier, and all ran Ali hard. But they never landed the belt, and its hard to give the nod to a guy who never got the belt over a guy who did. QUarry really does run it close...he could have picked up belts for fun, unified indeed, between 1980 and 1986......but its a case of no belt no place. Sorry.:dunno:
Bowe beat Evander two out of 3, he outgutted Golota in two foul-fests, he medalled at the Olympics and he only lost 1ce- to a guy that a lot are naming as a top 10 fighter. It is very very hard to see a guy like Bowe lose to a lot of heavyweights. He might not have fought Lewis but hey.........thats neither here nor there. I actually have difficulty giving Lewis a place but again he was around for a long time and only lost twice: it is the shocking nature of Lewis losses that really deflates any argument about Bowe being on the list. Lenny folded twice from single punches: Riddick simply couldn't be stopped. Its hard to ignore that. I was going to give the nod to Quarry but Gerry never landed the belt and its unfair, no matter how deep the division was in the 70's to give the nod to guys who were never Champ.
That Bowe even had to "out gut" Golota (which basically means take beatings long enough for the POS Golota to blow it himself) is all you need to know about Riddick Bowe.
Bullshit. It tells you how good Golota was when he was on his game, and it tells you how tuff Bowe was to stand up to it. It also tells you how much the Holy trilogy really eat into him.
Bowe's record will have to be assessed on its own merit. It has nothing to do with Lewis. Bowe's achievement as a heavyweight does not merit a place in the top ten. I am not sure Bowe would take kindly to u putting his name in the top ten.
I'm sorry........but Evanders record and Riddicks record are joined at the hip, and if Evander {who has lost-drawn with Ruiz, lost to Donald and lost to Toney and lost-lost-won with Riddick} is making it into the top 10, then so is Riddick...just by dint of beating Evander, even if you include nothing else.

Savon would have been 3rd just below Ali the list would look like this: 1) Stevenson 2) Ali 3) Savon " " the rest of my list consecutive from here. I hope Rock on Appreciates I put some time into this list!!!:dunno:
