The key in this fight would be the effectiveness of Arguello's body punches. Alexis had a strong jab and knew how to use it. He often used it against a guy coming to him to make that guy move into body punches, especially the right uppercut. Arguello was very good at hitting a guy to the body and making him regret getting close. Another key would be Arguello's often overlooked left hook. He often hooked off his jab and it was a short, often devastating punch. I don't know if he could do that to Henry Armstrong but I would stand in quicksand to watch the fight.
Stylistically, I think this fight suits Arguello. Armstrong will be taking the fight to Alexis. While that is exactly what Pryor did, this is a prime Arguello at one of his two best weights so I don’t think Armstrong overwhelms him. But Arguello would have to start fast, which was not necessarily his MO. The key is whether Armstrong could fight in the pocket against Arguello or whether he would get caught coming in. It Armstrong can keep things consistently in close quarters, he’d win. If Arguello can tag Hank with his left hook and straight right consistently, then he wins. I’m going with Arguello by late rounds stoppage.
Armstrong was SMALLER Than Pryor, But His Aggression, Work-Rate and Handspeed Would TROUBLE Arguello Equally... UD Armstrong or an Even LATER Stoppage Than Pryor-Arguello I...'Nother CLASSIC Fight Though... REED
