This fight was scheduled for Hong Kong on a UK Vs USA card, with Bruno-Mercer as the chief support, with it being Herbies first defence of the title he'd won from Michael Bentt. However it fell through due to poor ticket sales. How do you think these fights would have gone down?

Hide-Morrison has the potential to go either way as both were very big punchers and had bad chins. However Morrison is the clear favorite as Hide would be scared shitless. Morrison early.

Bruno was clearly the better inside fighter compared to Mercer so I think Bruno would be in command and get an early lead but I don't see him stopping Ray. Thus, after eight rounds Bruno would get winded again and Mercer would take over, winning by a late stoppage

I 100% concur with both picks and the logic behind them.

You're not as "knowledgeable" (in terms of amount of fights seen and knowledge of historical black and white era fighters) as guys like Broadwayjoe...but you better understand teh mechanics of the fight game in matchups than a guy like that. You base it scientifically and not on bias for or against. I applaud you.

    Poor Stafford. :crying:

Looks like you've been wrong one time too many lately based on your recent cheap shots on me when I wasn't even part of the discussion at hand. I'm sorry you regularly talk out of your ass and 99.9% of what you subject the forum members to (also known as whatever you post) is laced with bias and half (at best) truths...but that's not my problem. And it's also not my fault you act like a more of a douche these days than ever before.

Nice try at trying to make a joke out of it, but you're full of shit. For all the crying you do about not being a person to start pissing contests, it's pretty much all you do around here in between posting love letters to Floyd and Hopkins. The forum continues to slide as long as you are active around here.

Don't even start with that. As usual, I wasn't even involved in the discussion and Stafford felt the need to start something with me.

Definitely two very well chosen match ups. I'd have to expect Morrison to land something decent at some point, probably while being outboxed and flustered pretty badly. Morisson KO 5. The standard proviso stands with Mercer that allot depends on which one shows up, but Mercer at his best would be a favourite here, probably by late stoppage.

I believe Hide was intimidated by the super heavyweights, like Bowe and Klitschko, the sheer size of those guys made him fight scared. Against Morrison I don't think he have been as intimidated. I actually could quite easily see him bombing Morrison out of there, Hide was a ferocious puncher and had crazy speed, I remember Bowe saying that Hide was the hardest puncher he ever faced, which says something considering how one sided that fight ended up being.

I don't get how people can write off Hide's chances so easily?

Hide's combination of speed and power was exceptional as you say so definitely there is a chance for him. However hi boxing always fell apart whenever something did not go his way and it is very likely that at some point early he would feel Morrison's power and lose his concepts

Probably the worst chin in the history of professional boxing. Remember when the Rock in WWE used to joke that he punched so hard the wind from shots he missed would put people to sleep? He musta been watching Bowe-Hide when he came up with that.

Well he was good enough to wipe the floor with the guy who sparked Tommy in one round, one fight earlier

Maybe! Just read Herbie's autobiography "Nothing But Trouble", it's actually pretty good, very funny, probably because you can really tell it was written by the man himself. Dude is thick as pig shit . Saying that though, whilst I know he hasn't got the best of chins and was probably slightly too small for heavyweight, he has more than enough about him to take out the likes of Morrison imo.

I don't disagree that Morrison could take him out. It's just the way people dismiss Hide so easily which irks me. They've both been sparked early by bums, although that happened to Morrison in his prime. Whilst Hide wiped the floor with the same bum that sparked Morrison one fight later. Also, Hide was more competitive (for two rounds as it may be) against Bowe than Morrison was against Lewis. He was doing a number on Riddick in those first two rounds before being used as a mop to clean the canvas. I'd favour Hide in this one personally.

TBH, Bowe was just measuring Hide in those first two rounds. I think he knew Hide had no chin, and was just strolling around waiting 'til he felt like landing something. Hide knew that as well you could see it in his face. They were the weird kind you get in boxing sometimes when you have to give them one way on the scorecard but that really doesn't tell the dynamic of what's actually happening.

Riddick was always going to get to him eventually I agree, but Herbie made enough of an impression for Bowe to call him the hardest puncher he ever shared a ring with in his lifetime, that has to count for something against a fella like Morrison.
