Gee, who would've thunk it? :: Late sub Edwards gets painful upset Late sub Johnnie Edwards (13-1-1, 7 KOs) got the biggest win of his career when former two-time WBA featherweight world champion Freddie Norwood (41-2-1, 22 KOs) was disqualified for low blows in round six of their showdown on Sunday night at the Northern Quest Casino in Airway Heights, Washington. Edwards, who stepped in for injured Shamir Reyes one week ago, was able to frustrate Norwood for much of the night. The 37-year-old Norwood hit Edwards low in the third and was deducted two points in round five for additional low blows. I didn't understand why Prize Fight signed him out of retirement last year, but at least they had the decency to kick his ass right back to the curb after stinking out the joint in two straight fights. Why anyone picked him up after that is beyond me. Anyway, Johnnie Edwards is cool people, glad to hear that he got a little bit of shine out of this. Hopefully it will lead to another decent payday for him.
Wow that is a surprise ! (Norwood actually turning up for a fight and not cancelling) Lost count of the amount of times his fights have been put off ! Nearly as many as a Riddick Bowe comeback.::
