Haha. I had tears in my eyes, that must have been the funniest piece of crap I have ever read. Among the sure fire first ballot Hall of famers was Ricky Hatton, among the very likely was Ivan Calderon, among the outside shots was Felix Sturm, and among the slim chances were Veron Forrest, Wladimir Klitschko and Antonio Tarver no hopers was Jermain Taylor. I almost bought the magazine just to post the crap in detail. I think they even felt the need to check whether Erik Morales, Floyd Mayweather or Evander Holyfield are really HOFers. I was so amazed I kept searching for the "Gets his own wing" article on Oscar.
Yep I have that magazine. Actually I thought for the most part it was a pretty good article. Far and away the worst call was Jermain Taylor as a no hoper! That is just complete rubbish, the guy is still young, has lots of fights ahead of him, and not only that he is the former undisputed middleweight champ with two close wins over all time great middleweight Nard... I jsut don't see how they can count him out. Hatton for sure fire HOF is a really bad call.. other than his big ugly win over Zoo he has what on his resume ???
Felix Sturm? Yes, I guess he is an "outside" shot. So far outside he'd probably have to slingshot himself all the way from Europe and into the same ring containing John Ruiz, Fres Oquendo, Ricky Hatton, Zahir Raheem, Richard Schaefer and Jim Grey.........................the ensuing impact wiping the said fight figures completely off the face of the earth and unrecognizable to boxing fans everywhere. I would then consider posthumously inducting Felix Sturm into the Boxing Hall Of Fame with a write-in ballot campaign.....................possibly putting him into the "Non-Participant" category for meritorious service in the name of Boxing. :bears:
not when the voting members are predominantly American. :: Curious to see if they even put his name on the ballot next year. I say that, because the likes of Chris Eubank, Nigel Benn, Julian Jackson and others have yet to warrant ballot consideration. Not sure if any are HOF-worthy (those who make a case for Hamed would have to do as much for at least Eubank and Nigel), but I'd vote for all three over Ottke.
This year is tougher than ever for some of the guys who've been on the ballot for far too long. Lennox is a given, and it looks like Orlando Canizales is going in as well (though I don't view him as a true first ballot entry). That leaves one slot for a slew of flyweight and lighter fighters who've been waiting for years to get in.
Canizales isn't a first ballot guy by any stretch of the imagination. He was a real good fighter though. Hamed will get in and he bloody well should, too.
