I'd pick Holyfield. I think Evander gets in his chest and wears him out. Wlad has been KO'd in every phase of his career and has shown a penchant for folding when things got rough. I think Holy does him.
I am not sure Evander gets past that jab, he has always been easy to hit and Wlad's jab has looked pretty impressive lately. Also inside I think WLad of these days could pull a Lennox and simply lean on Holy, not allowing him to go to work there
The Holy that Lummox fought was a far cry from the Evander from the early 90's. I think your underrestimating how quick Evander was, he'd definitely be able to slip inside that jab, and get in hooks, and mostly importantly, dig the body. A prime Bowe was able to beat Evander, but Riddick could fight inside, and most importantly, he had chin and stamina. Wlad has neither. Klit has beaten NONE to suggest to me he could handle a prime Holy. Evander eats him up, as does a young Tyson, Lewis, and Bowe.
Evander from the early 90s was easy to hit also and he didn't demonstrate much of one-punch power. He won a thriller over Dokes, was in serious trouble against Bert Cooper and got hit plenty by George Foreman. My problem with Holy in this fight is that he was indeed very easy to hit and Wlad is so quick, big and strong that he would give Holy a helluva fight, even though Evander might win it (which I don't believe though)
Evander's chin always made up for his lack of defense. He'd be able to take Wlad's best punches, but could Wlad take his? Also dont underrestimate Evander's power. He could always crack with his hook. Wlad gives Holy hell in the first half of the fight, but once the going gets tough, Wlad starts to fold as Holy begins forcing him to trade.
If you stand in front of Wlad and don't make him pick up his feet he'll beat you all day. A young Evander could bounce in and out and counter over right hands and jabs. It's well documented that Wlad is a mental midget, therefore it wouldn't take too many counters to discourage Wlad and get him off his jab.
Im not even sure we have seen Wlads prime yet. He is definately catching steam as time goes. I bet he hits his prime in the next couple fights.
Holyfield Ko's him in 9 or less... The first 4-5 rounds are competitive...Wladimir using the jab not allowing Holyfield to get into the fight...but Holyfield will start landing the right over the top...and going to the body with both hands..and that would be that....
Holyfield gets to him sooner or later, although the first 6 rounds might be hella rough for him. Wvlad doesn't have the heart or stamina to beat Evander, end of story.
The shit about heart is very secondary. In real life Rocky does not beat Ivan Drago. Also, when has Wlad's heart ever been a problem?
Yes and yes. His stamina gave out in both, not his heart and it looks like he has really learned to pace himself after the Brewster fight (which to me still looks weird)
Hmmm....a prime Evander was NOT that "easy to hit"...you say that as if he was Tex Cobb. Also, he is MUCH more skilled at passing the jab and getting inside (and staying there) that most, if not all of the opposition Wlad has faced to date. This is not a question of Wlad simply jabbing his way to a dominant decision; not against a prime Evander. Highly competitive fight, at least....and dangerous for Wlad late. Peace.
Easy fight for Wlad. His heart, chin, iron will and unstoppable determination to win will overcome whatever physical advantages Holyfield might possess. Look at the guys' attributes, for example: Wladimir: Huge height, Huge reach, Huge weight Evander: decent height, decent reach, decent weight Advantage: Wladimir Wladimir: Olympic Gold Champion Evander: Bronze medalist (basically a failure) Advantage: Wladimir Wladimir: brutally beat down Chris Byrd. Twice. Evander: lost to Chris Byrd Advantage: Wladimir Wladimir: A PhD who speaks 4-5 languages fluently Evander: doesn't really speak any language fluently Advantage: Wladimir Wladimir: a white guy Evander: black guy Advantage: Wladimir
Well in real life neither would Wlad. I'd say in every fight he's lost, which is where his heart couldn't overcome his stamina problems. Wlad loses to Holyfield, a prime Vitali on the other hand I think beats Holy and even that is only because of the size discrepancy. I could see Vitali using his jab more to keep Holy at a distance, Wlad would try to many hooks and crosses which gives Holy more oppurtunities. Plus Wlad just doesn't have the toughness.
You'll only see Wlad's true abilities once he fights somebody the ilk of a Lennox Lewis. Somebody who can match him jab for jab, hook for hook, and reach his chin. Unfortunately there's nobody around to really push him. Mostly small guys like Brock, Brewster, Byrd and them. Wlad should be comfortable for the next little while. Can't really see anybody in this pool of talent pushing him.
Wlad destroyed the HUGE McCline when McCline was coming off wins over Grant and Mount Whitaker (Goofy).
It has nothing to do with his heart. Wlad has finished every one of his fights on his feet. Even on his losses, he kept getting up.:nono:
no contest on this one!! Holy would destroy him! Wlad is a big german robot.. a prime Holy was awesome
