Honestly, I think this fight would be lucky to do 200,000 buys. Two boring defensive fighters trying to jab each other all night. Unless the undercard is absolutely packed with top flight talent or exciting sluggers, this has ZZzzz written all over it. :shit:

I actually think it'll be exciting. Winky may not have pop but he comes forward and stays busy. I'm interested in seeing how Hopkins solves the puzzle but I can wait another week to watch it on regular HBO.

Steve Kim wrote that Hugo Cazares-Ivan Calderon and Jhonny Gonzalez-Jose Navarro are being discussed.

I think that would be a great card, and an admission that the main event may not sell entirely on its own.

Is Calderon no longer with Top Rank? anyway I like this undercard although Gonzalez might be too big for Navarro.

Still I'm happy with this card :bears:

You're ridiculous, can you make a post not about Pacquiao? I know he won fighter of the year honors and has been universally rated P4P #2 which your boy Yawn Manuel Fagquez could only dream of, but honestly, you talk about Pacquiao more than I do. You're obsessed, I swear.

As for the fight, sure they're skilled, but how is this going to "entertain" you on a Saturday night? I think I'll be out with my girlfriend that night, and I'll claim I'm skipping the boxing card just to be with her, two birds with one stone. :crafty:

I'm significantly more interested in this fight than I was for last Saturday's.

This fight is going to have 600 punches total thrown between two fighters and a connect percentage hovering around 20%. It's going to be shit. :shit:

hey maricon how about you stop mentioning my name on your posts. Even on the off topic section you mention my name or Fagquez or whatever you call him. :kick:

Excuse me? Who followed me into those post? Who followed me into this thread? I'll let you go and check to see who was in those threads first. Also, didn't you read Payton's no tolerance policy? Keep it clean. :nono:

Besides your opinion on boxing is worth shit.

    My personal favorite.

Yes, Pacquiao made them lay down on the canvas multiple times.

But you're right, his name is Fagquez, thank you for recognizing that.

    Thank U...

Winky's "Boring" Image is BOGUS...He's Normally PRESSING the Fight,he's Almost Always FLAT-FOOTED & he Throws ALOT of Punches...What's "Boring" about that???:dunno:

Either Bernard's Gonna MAKE Winky HESISTANT to Force the Issue OR,Winky's Constant Pressure & Workrate will Take a TOLL on Bernard...

It'll B VERY Interesting to See WHICH Transpires....

I think the reason Winky is "boring" is because its basically a given that his fights are going the distance each and every time. What makes boxing unique in the world of bigtime pro sports, is the KO. The punch that can come from left field and turn a 80-4 scoreline deficit, into a victory. Its the x-factor that the punters love.

Its also the one thing which Winky lacks.

This ISN'T Directed @ YOU,but Some Fans just REFUSE to B Satisfied...

The SAME Peeps that Call Winky "Boring" for Going 12 Rounds All the Time were the SAME Peeps BITCHING about the BREVITY of Mike Tyson PPV's ,N the 80's & 90's...

Sure,Winky CAN'T Punch for Shit, but he IS an OFFENSIVE Minded Fighter,Contrary to Popular Belief...

agREED I think Wink gets a bad rap about being a boring fighter but he was arguably in two action fights his last two times out (Soliman who kept going and Taylor). His fights with Mosley were dominations as was Tito so MAYBE people confuse domination with boring

    HOWEVER

Nard can be VERY boring (I was at his Eastman fight) if he does not have a dance partner to play along.

I for one will watch because I like Wink and used to like Nard (he is kind of turned into a GBP-style prick) and the UC should be interesting

On one hand you have an alltime great at middleweight, two divisionchampion, current light heavy champion. On the other you have one of the best fighter in the world right now.

Both have been exposed and have PPV records. What's not to like?

This fight will SELL just fine.

I think this fight means "something" (not sure what), but I just see it as monetary failure. I don't think either of these fighters can sell tickets the way Dela Hoya, Hatton, and now Pac do.

I agree it's a good style match up. Just look what B-Hop did to Tarver. Only this time through in the defense of Wink; and who knows the offensive Winky from the Taylor fight could show up!!!!

I find Winky boring because you could swap all the rounds in one of his fight and you'd think they are in order. In other words, he has only one gear and doesn't punch hard enough to make it exciting. He's a good guy and all but I can't get excited for any of his fights. That's a shame though because he seems like a genuine good guy, one I'd like to root for.

Hopkins vs Tarver wasn't exactly a hotbed of activity.

    Let's see Winky stop somebody...anybody!

Someone check his record and let me know the last time he stopped someone.

Agreed. Add to that both Winky and Hopkins have solid defenses and sturdy chins. This fight is 100% guranteed to go the distance barring injury. A fight certainly doesn't have to have a knockout to be exciting, but simply the chance of it happening adds to the excitement.

The arguments on this board complaining about the official verdict (which almost surely will be "controversial") will be more entertaining than this fight.

This is precisely the reason Wink's considered boring. There's NO expectation of the fight ending early.

It's like Ivan Calderon fighting...you KNOW you're along for the 47 minute ride.

I agree, this has all the ingredients to be a huge failure! It's going to be a very tactical battle.

Have you ever watched Wright fight? The guy throws a high volume of punches.

The problem here for Wright will be if he is strong armed into wearing Reyes gloves. That is what i hear from hopkins camp that GBP intends to do.

Well Winky may throw lots of punches but like Ashes said, there's no excitement factor in watching this fight because you know it's going to decision. It's going to come down to who lands more jabs and straight rights for 12 ZZZZZzzzzzzz rounds.

If this fight does 200,000 buys it should be considered a small miracle.

I'm betting you that Winky isn't going to land ANY straight right in this fight. Are you up?
