This Manny Pacquiao/Floyd Mayweather argument is as polarizing as any other argument in sports!

Boxing has been known for its ethnic wars going back to the beginning of the last century.

But to hear a black fan and Floyd himself disrespect Pacqiao's ethnicity; what the hell does that have to do with boxing?

Bernard Hopkins' b.s. about Manny fighting black fighters falls under the same umbrella.

On the other hand, you go on youtube and other message boards and they diss the hell out of Floyd. They talk about how he's not that good and his competition sucked etc.... Of course, on youtube, i'd be remissed if I did not mention the typical racial attacks against Floyd; and this was before any of his racial nonsense came out last year!

The bottom line is, neither of these fighters have a shitty skillset. They are both spectacularly skilled boxers.

When a black fighter picks Floyd is it virtually exclusively because he's black or are these people talking boxing?

When most people pick Manny, is it because he's Filipino (For the Filipino audience) or non black?

Is this an Obama deal when it is so obvious why most blacks voted for him although he's just as much white as he is black?

Look, boxing is the last bastion of ethno-centric sporting achievement. It can be as accommodating and as genial as we want, or it can be as vicious as we want.

Jimmy McClarnin was called the "Jew-Killer". Floyds uncle was the "Mexican Killer".

Neither man asked for or promoted the moniker, and so nobody was really offended.

Eventually, the very thing they were supposed to be the master of was what beat them- a Jew called Barnet Rossofski {Barney Ross} for McLarnin, and JC Chavez for Mayweather.

Floyd is just a bitter little man who feels the need to stay pertinent and relevant so he makes these racial noises. Most of it is as forgiveable as it is forgettable.

People always root for their own. Right now, the Irish are at Cheltenham backing Irish-owned or Irish-trained horses.

Its no big deal to root for ones own.

What is a big deal is the double standards.

Alan Minter said that he would never lose to a black man, before he fought Hagler, and is regarded as some sort of racist, NF pariah.

Hopkins said he would "never let a whiteboy beat me" and he is one of the corporate faces of Golden "Harvard Jew Beaters" Boy promotions. This is apparently acceptable.

I've heard lots of black folks that cannot stand Floyd and root for Pacquiao to beat his ass.

some people just assume boxing fans are sheep and just follow their own. It happens but not all the time.

I know it happens. I'm interested in the people that think it's all right to be so vitriolic and incendiary! Voice your opinions, respect the fighters and their skillsets and that's it.

Now, I know Floyd and B-Hop don't show much respect to anyone, including their own; but damn, why are most people taking it upon themselves to make this about more than boxing?

Does a Floyd or Manny loss to one another take away from their accomplishments?

Im confused as to why boxing is still allowed to even have arguments like this.

In the NFL there a race discussion like this. No one ever says "Oh michael vick isnt good because hes never beatin a great white quarter back" or something like "the best white quarter back on the board right now is aaron rodgers"

Meanwhile in boxing people can outright discredit someone for not beating a certain race of fighter. Then rather then al sharpton starting a riot or the ncaap trying to have u banned from your sport or something, people just go ahead and run articles on this shit and try to make it a valid argument.

    Its ridiculous to me

Race is definitely a part of boxing.

For what % of fans I don't know.

From my own perspective, as a white Jew, I don't care about race to be honest.

I like a huge variety of fighters, and more inclined to like Latin or Asian fighters than White for example.

I generally just like fighters for their fighting style and ability, don't really care where are from.

I'm not someone who roots for someone just because they are from the same country as me.

No offense to people who do, but it just seems bizarre to me.

Hitman recently said he'll always root for a Brit. I can see supporting your fellow countryman, but surely only if you like them?

It didn't occur to me to root for Hatton over Pacquiao, because quite simply, I much prefer Pacman, and Hatton coming from the same country or being a similar race to me doesn't mean much.

I'm a litttle guilty of this. I, on ocassion tend to root for American fighters over non-American. However, I liked Matthew Hilton and now David Lemieux. I also liked Ike Quartey, too. Khaosai Galaxy was a guy I followed without ever watching him fight!

Ironically, as a guy who would USUALLY root for white fighters, with white men of my own nationality, it is usual that I detect their BS much sooner than normal and root against them. Andy Lee and Bernard Hopkins are good examples of this. I wouldn't root for either of those at all againt ANYONE.
