Benavidez is probably the best super middleweight in the world right now, considering that Canelo is an aging midget. It's not definite that he is, because Morrell might be better soon. But how would Benavidez fare against the Golden era of super middles from 95-2012? He have any chance against:

    Ward
    Froch
    Kessler
    Calz
    Toney
    Roy
    Eubank Sr.

They werent all part of the same era. Id say its too early to tell right now. Hes definitely not good enough for roy, toney and ward, but ill have to see him against better opponents to rate his chances against the others
