This is gonna be such an easy fight for Floyd that it will shock the world.

The current odds are -250 for Floyd and I expect them to go my way as Brits arrive. I will bet more at that time but I am 99% confident that it will be an easy fight for Mr Mayweather.

Ron is right its easy fight for Floyd. Hattons only chance is to foul and cheat.

The referee is going to be very important in that fight.

So, it's that easy for Floyd...and yet it still shock the world?

And yet....it's so easy....so easy that you still can't be 100% sure Mayweather will win.

    It's still 1%.
You're 99% that Mayweather will win - so you stand a good chance of winning a lot of money.
But are you really that confident? I don't think your opening gambit in this thread states that at all....

I am completely confident that floyd's speed and footwork will be the difference in the fight. Also, Floyd's camp will make sure that Hatton is not allowed to grapple as much as he has in the past. Richard Steele would be the perfect ref for this fight if he was stil at it.

    But....if it's 99% a lock for Floyd to win.....why the shock?
And why don't you put all your money on it now?

Oh and as for the betting of Pavlik-Taylor, sportsbooks loved that result. The public was all over Taylor for some reason.

Honestly, I had a small wager from a while back when the fight was very first put up at a ridiculous price. Funny I picked the exact right result in the prediction thread but didn't really make a big profit off it. I had already done well because of the Valuev-Bergeron over which was +240. Had a great weekend overall though after getting clobbered the weekend before on MMA and football.

look in predictions thread I had PAvlik KO9- but only bet $300

I had been demolished earlier in the day by both Texas and Oklahoma losing to the tune of $1200

Well i'm glad you didn't go with Taylor, I was kidding about the side bet. :bears: I might join you guys regarding Floyd. But how much money can you get on those odds? Honestly if the odds are outrageous I might bet Hattonfor the upset in leau of that lucky punch! I don't really think he can win though

You know what? I've only got a bit on Mayweather so far. I was going to go big, but I just have a feeling. The last time I saw people betting like this - selling their cars, mortgaging their houses - was on Tommy Hearns against Sugar Ray Leonard. People saw Hearns the way people see Pavlik now, perhaps more so. Leonard had gone 1-1 with Duran, but Duran was perceived to be on the downslope. Ricky Hatton sucks at welterweight, and he always has, even going back to the amateurs. But once everyone puts their money in something like this, you have to wonder about getting cold feet.

Getting a bit better than 2 dollars for evey 1 that you bet on Hatton isn't exactly outrageous. Actually looking around it is funny odds. 1 place is -325 +250. Another place I bet is -235, +195. Most books I look at are a little different (and that's not including the Brit books).

There's been plenty of money on Hatton. The odds didn't drop for no reason. Then again the majority of money comes in the last few days. Kinda like the last few taylor fights that all moved big late.

The amount of money on Hatton is bothering me, too. In Holyfield-Tyson I, Las Vegas casinos lost $2 billion. If the unexpected happens, I could see some of the websites defaulting on bets, and a crash in the gaming industry.

Bah, it's late, and I'm paranoid.

V what is the profit for the professionals who bet Mayweather?... the guys who can pretty much know that a bet placed on Mayweather going the distance and defeating Hatton is probably what will happen... How much do they make on that bet? Is it worth the risk?

I have to say that for me, if I really tried to make money betting I would go with the Vegas favorites except when there was a real compelling reason not to. To me this fight is a classic example of that kind of fight.

When they give odds aren't they based on this possible scenerio (if a guy manages to pull a total upset)?

You and Valdista seem to know about the spreads... I appreciate the info. Here is the thing: For a rational person who actually puts a big bet down on an underdog, there has to be an incentive obviously. I have no problem, if I am going to gamble, on putting some real money on Hatton if the odds reward me for being a dope. But 2 to 1... now way! make it like 6 to 1 and then we can talk. I would do this essentially because it would be fun, knowing full well that this fight is a chance for the Vegas smart guys to take money out of England.

I mean a 50% return is great, but it depends on the risk imo. And for fun and recreation if the spread is not absurd enough what is to prevent somoene from buying 500 lottery tickets instead? I would never buy a lottery ticket but the stupid money Vegas attracts has to come from somewhere. I think the odds will be shit because of Hatton's supporters.

What I am getting at is the betting lines have to give people an incentive to attract the stupid money, but if they get greedy, the Tyson scenerio you talk about is a reality.

Floyd winning by decision will pay a little better than even odds. Personally I don't like betting guys by dec or KO, I just prefer to bet them to win. It is better odds obviously to bet him by decision. Unless a decision or KO prop is real absurd though I don't bet them much.
