There is a potential for it to be a bit ugly. I hope that isnt the case. But certainly the more pushing and shoving that takes place, the better for Hatton who is a far larger man than Pacquiao in terms of his natural size. Obviously, Ricky will want to make it a close range fight, because at a distance, the speed will be a huge advantage for Pac-Man (this fight is a good example of an instance where the taller man is actually at a disadvantage when the fight is on the "outside" because the difference in speed is great) Hatton is not above some rough-housing either, and to me the one Pac fight from a few years back that everyone forgets is the one against Agapito Sanchez who really seemed to rattle him badly with his dirty tactics (Manny didnt do a whole lot in that fight and he looked incredibly uncomfortable to me) Anytime you get an two aggressive guys like this who will lunge on occassion, a headbutt is always a possibility. Here's hoping that the fight is a good one and there isn't any controversy
Hatton/Pacquiao has no chance of being an exciting fight - it involves Hatton the hack. Win or lose, Hatton will clinch for 2.5 minutes of every round, applying his usual hit and hold from mid-distance that Mosley made so famous. Hit, fall in, and hold. It's funny that people claim Hatton is this great inside fighter. I can't remember the last time he fought inside. He holds inside is what he does. He can't box moving backwards. He can't fight inside. What does that leave? The hit and hold that has served him so well. If the referee does his job Hatton has no chance of winning. At least not legally. Pacquiao's job will be to use angles and his south-paw stance to negate Hatton's lunging style. What fighter with any skill leads with a leaping left jab and gets knocked out by PBF of all people? Besides Gatti, PBF hadn't stopped anyone above 135 before the Hatton fight, and Gatti was clearly weight drained for that fight. And the only reason he was able to stop Hatton is because the guy straight up doesn't know how to box and makes tons of mistakes. Hatton should hope for a head-butt - and before the fifth round. It's the only way he escapes without a loss.
