He wouldn't beat Floyd, or Martinez, and I still think Lara has the skills/style to beat him, but I'd make him a very live dog to stop Cotto.

Miggy is hittable, hurtable, and has the inferior raw power between the two. Of course, Ginger has never been in with NEAR the skills, and firepower of Cotto. There's a chance that Cotto beats his ass, but there's also a chance Canelo's youth and power prove too much for Miggy.

If Cotto gets past Trout, then Cotto-Canelo MUST be made for the spring.

    Cotto beats Canelo down.....

X you are a career stimulus...Canelo look like a killer last night against a guy that a fight ago was fighting 147...and two fight ago had fought at 135 and 140....

I said NUMEROUS times before the fight that Lopez was a bum, and Canelo performed exactly as I expected.

It's just a gut feeling I have, and I said he COULD beat Cotto, not that he WOULD.

Canelo if nothing else can bang. He hits a lot harder than Margarita, even an illegal wrapped Margarita doesn't have the velocity and snap that Canelo has.

AND Canelo has fast hands, and is an underrated combo puncher.

Cotto isn't elusive, and doesn't have the greatest chin.

OF COURSE, he'd have to be favored. But if you act like it's some mismatch in Cotto's favor, you're fooling yourself.

Cotto of 07-08? Yeah, it'd be borderline mismatch. THAT version of Cotto would slaughter Canelo.

But Canelo has a good shot now.

Yeah he just beat a 140 pounder. Let's not forget, he couldn't even put a dent in Matthew Hatton. And was being outboxed by Cintron and Gomez.

Cotto beats the crap out of him.

He's not beating Cotto right now

Cotto would need to get really, really old before he'd lose to this kid

I like Cotto but he is always being continually over-rated, like he's from some lost era of boxer-punchers.

At this point in their careers, Canelo beats him pretty easily.

While I believe Cotto to be one of the more overrated fighters in Boxing and far from a "great" or even "near great" fighter, I believe he wins because Canelo is completely unimpressive to me.

If the fight comes off you'll be in for a big surprise. He doesn't come close to beating him, let alone easily.

I think Cotto took more punishment against Floyd than a lot of yall realize.

Floyd beat him up pretty good. Cotto pushed Floyd to a rough fight, but he paid a price for it.

At this stage of Cotto's career, it's possible the Floyd fight took a lot outta Miggy.

I think he'll beat Trout, because the fish has no firepower to deter Cotto.

But when Canelo lands on Cotto (and he WOULD land), how are yall so sure Cotto would stand up to it?

Not trying to make excuses for Canelo, but he was only like 19-20 years old in the Cotto fight. It's not unusal to see young kids get hurt in the fights at that age. I mean, a bum DROPPED Andre Ward for Christ sake. AND, Cotto caught Canelo pretty cold.

Of course Miggy would slaughter THAT version of Canelo early. But Canelo has no doubt improved since the Jose Cotto fight, and filled out.

I HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt Cotto would stop Canelo early. Cotto has NEVER stopped anybody early. He ain't Tito.

Once again, I'm not even saying Canelo wins.

But those treating it as a mismatch are either overrating Cotto, or dare I say, underrating the Ginger.

Cotto won't stop him early..or even at all. Cotto is just another level above Canelo and hasn't deteriorated enough for Canelo to beat him. Cotto will take him deep into the fight and beat him.

It's possible, but it's also possible Canelo's youth, strength, and power drown Cotto deep. Let's not pretend that Cotto is Mr. Stamina.

Once again, like I said, circa 07-08 Cotto beats the Hell outta Canelo and stops him in about 8. But Cotto is nowhere near that sharp anymore, and make no mistake, the Marg, Pac, and Floyd fights have taken a lot outta him.

Canelo's best win is a 74 year old Shane Mosley, who didn't seem impressed by his power.

Hmm, didn't get that impression in the slightest. Look at Cotto's face after the fight against Floyd compared to against Pacquiao. He looks fine.

I agree with X. At this point Ginger has a good chance in beating Cotto. Cotto's best days are over.

Nine out of eleven of Cotto's first opponents were stopped by or before the fourth round.

Nice one smart ass, but you know exactly what I meant.

Cotto has never stopped anybody worth a damn early.

The only good fighter I can recall him destroying pretty rapidly was Quintana. Still to this day I think the Quitana fight might be Cotto's peak performance.

I'd pick Alvarez, probably by late stoppage. As I've said for years, I think he's just flat out better than he looks.
