I think Jon Jones is a great fighter BUT

    Don't you guys think he is totally taking advantage of being able to make weight and totally make all the guys he fights look like little midgets? I think that combined with all that talent he is IMO the greatest Light Heavyweight of all time...however, I don't think he is gonna have the same success as a heavy...I actually see the man getting knocked out when he fights guys the same size as him or even bigger

    any thoughts?

    He is a 205 pounder, simple as that. He looks a similar size between fights, Chael looked bigger than him on TUF.

    He's not as big as he looks, he has a massive frame, but fucking skinny legs, and a fairly slender torso. Right now, he would be undersized at heavy.

    I'm not even a Jones fan, but choof de fucking choof, he is a 205 pounder.

    He isnt a 205 pounder. He can make 205, but he is a heavyweight. What slender Torso are you talking about?

    How do you explain Chael, a middleweight, looking bigger than him on TUF?

    Like I said he's got skinny legs, pretty slim arms too. His torso is bigger than I thought, and he is a big 205 pounder, but he's still a 205 pounder. If he can make the weight, he can make the weight.

    If he moved up to heavyweight right now, I bet he would weigh less than most of his opponents.

    Chael didnt look bigger than Jones when they were side by side. And his legs dont mean shit. People keep saying he has skinny legs, but they arent skinny, they just arent as big as other heavies. That being said, who cares? His kicks are still powerful as all hell. If Jones moved up to heavyweight, he would be a minimum 230.

    When they stood side by side I thought Chael looked clearly bigger. He had arms like tree trunks, and a fucking big upper body. It more than compensated for the height difference. Jones looked a similar size to his fights, not dramatically bigger.

    I thought Jones would look much bigger than Chael.

    The conversation the OP is having yes we should wait. But the conversation i am having that Jones is a natural heavy with the discipline to get to 205 is a good discussion to have.

    no doubt about imo. Jones is a huge 205 pounders, and more of a natural hw than a lhw. As weight cutting as, unfortunuately, become a part of the game, Jones shouldn't be penalised legacy wise for it though.

    Based on Anthony's rationale, GSP is a natural MW and Benson Henderson is a natural WW and Aldo is a natural LW and so on and so on.

    Jones is fighting in his proper weight class. Period.

    How is it bullshit? The guy cuts to 205, just like damn near every fighter out there cuts to his weight class. He's not killing himself to do it. He's not missing weight at the weigh ins. He fights at the weight that fits him best, and that is 205.

    Guys like Rampage and Forrest Griffin have had troubles making weight. Is it bullshit that they fight at 205?

    I am not saying he SHOULNDT be fighting at 205. I am saying that it's not his PROPER weight. his PROPER weight is a Heavyweight. I have ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM with him fighting at 205. Especially if he can make it. Rampage is a lazy fuck that is why he has a hard time making weight. Forrest Balloons too high between fights. that is why he has a hard time making weight. Jon's natural body just takes shape when he doesnt fight. And he has to train to get down to 205.

    Again, more power to Jones. Fight in the division that you want to. But i dont believe for one second it's his "proper" weight class.

    I want to be clear and state that i do not agree with the original poster who said Jones is taking advantage of people at 205. Everything Jones is doing is legal and i support it 100%. I have no problem with him fighting at 205. I am only stating that Jones is a natural heavyweight. And whenver he feels like moving there, it will be great.

    Why because he can make the weight? Makes no sense. Just because he can make the weight does not mean he is best fit to fight in it. If he can make i 185 is he best fight to fight in it? Nope.

    The fact is that in between fights, whenever a photo of jones is taken next to a heavyweight, he looks the same size if not bigger than them.

    So based on Anthony's rationale GSP's proper weight class is MW, Silva's is HW, Aldo's is LW, Hendrson's is almost MW and Cruz is WW.
