If Canelo fought like a Mexican, could he beat GGG?

Canelo does not fight like a Mexican. He sorta has one speed and uses his boxing until he feels confident, when he slightly ups his work rate and pulls the win. A lower risk fighter.

In contrast, Mexican greats have skills, physical talents and tough chins, but mostly a ferociousness, a refusal to be owned and a preference for going out on their sword if all is lost.

Canelo has some skills and speed, but he's like a kitten in there compared to Chavez, Barrera, Morales, Marquez etc

So.....if Canelo channelled his inner Mexican at 160lbs.....warred it out with GGG, a high workrate using all his talents and the Mexican spirit....could he do it?

Ive always thought he fights quite similarly to marquez albeit with less capacity to move through the gears, as you say. Which is kinda my answer to the question too - I don't think he has it in him. He doesn't seem to be fast enough on the trigger, fluid enough putting combinations together or have the vo2 max to really 'go' for it....the measured style seems imposed by his body as much as his temprement

No way. Crapnelo can't beat anyone who isn't 20 lbs lighter than him.

We don't know what would happen if Canelo caught GGG clean with big shots. He might be able to deter him.

Even if he hurts him I don't think GGG would be detered. He seems like he mentally trained himself to be willing to walk thru punches.

Canelo is terrified of GGG...so regardless of his style...he would get beat. He could have Floyd skills/boxing style but if he's scared to death he will get fucked up...FEAR is a bitch!!!

I don't think Canelo is scared. Not for one minute. He doesn't fight like a Mexican, but he still loves to fight.

While Certainly THUDDING and ACCURATE, GGG's Jab Isn't Exceptionally Fast...

Being a NATURAL Counterpuncher, REED Could See Canelo COUNTERING GGG's Jab Effectively...This Fight will Be a LOT More Interesting and Competitive than Some of Ya'll Realize...

While it's not quite a piston like jab it's still quite good. Even a half decent jab is usually an effective tool against heavy footed guys like Canelo.

I'm sure he could shoe-shine his way to a decision if he fought like DLH, but then again he's a Yank

alvarez will land some shots here and there. its not like he's a monster puncher. plenty of guys have taken his shots just fine. it will be interesting to watch him get his ass whipped and it will be a competitive race to the sports book windows to cash in my betting slips

I actually think it would be a competitive fight, but if it happens anytime between now and September of 2017, I can't see Canelo winning.

He'll probably go the distance and test Triple G more than he has ever been tested, but can't see him pulling it off.

Canelo Has More 2-Fisted Power than Anybody GGG's Faced...Canelo Also Puts his Punches Together BETTER than Anybody GGG's Faced...

The Bout May EVENTUALLY Become an "Asswhipping", but Make No Mistake, it WILL Be Competitive...

i could see him keeping some rounds close, maybe. the guy freezes when he is in with more skilled opponents. i think he will lose every round and get stopped. could be mid rounds or late rounds depending on how timid he is

Kell Brook, much like Khan against Canelo, has the attributes to steal a round or two against Golovkin but you knew it was not going to last, that they would be worn down or stopped...Canelo doesn't have those attributes, he won't steal round(s) as Brook did

Yup. And I think if Brooks face heals he'd give 180 alvarez a real fight

Alvarez would be competitive with GGG at the very least.

GGG is not the invincible monster many claim. Brook made him look vulnerable in round 2.

I didn't think GGG looked vulnerable really, he wanted Brook to open up because a) it would sap his energy a bit more and b) it would expose openings he could counter. Besides, fighters are allowed to lose the odd round here and there.

Have you seen GGG's resume? Damn, what bravery! Dominic Wade, Kell Brook, Willie Monroe. How does he even have the courage to get in the ring?

Exactly. So Alvarez shouldn't have any problems getting in the ring with him as resumes win fights. However nobody on his team wants that to happen which is really puzzling. :scratcher:

So Did he Lose a Round to Brook Because he LOST it Outright or Because he "Wanted To" Lose it???...Apparently, Even when GGG Loses, he WINS...

Of Course he Will Be...Canelo's THE Best Guy GGG Will have Ever Faced, by a MILE...He'll Be a VERY Live Underdog as Well...

Only Way GGG "Wins Every Round" is if he BOMBS OUT Canelo in 2-3 Rounds (Which Ain't Happening)...Personally, REED Sees an 8-9 Round Bout MINIMUM, w/Canelo CLEARLY Winning 3-4 of them, @ Worst...

Contrary to Popular Belief, Canelo-GGG AIN'T No Mismatch...
