I know its a bit random but I just wanted some opinions on this, I was discussing with a friend the other day. Paulie Malignaggi, has pretty decent skills, good speed, pretty decent chin, and showed alot of heart vs Cotto, but hits with all the force of a bubble. If he had been blessed with one punch knockout power, or even Hatton type hurtful but not concussive power, do you think he would have achieved alot more in boxing? would the cotto and hatton fights have gone exactly the same way? im not saying would he have been an all time great or in the p4p lists or anything, but would he be a genuine threat to the top guys at 140-147? just curious to hear what u think. by the way im not a fan he annoys the shit out of me.
as bad as this sounds - i rarely ever get excited to see a boxer who doesn't have power. and if they are the feather-fisted, cutie, defensive type - they better be fighting top flight competition otherwise i don't see the point in even tuning in
obviously he would be a better fighter, thats stating the obvious, i think people are missing the point, im wondering HOW MUCH of a better fighter would he be with his current skill set. for example, in the cotto fight, miguel didnt have to worry about the returning fire from malignaggi so he could plough through him, same with hatton. if he had the power to give them both something to think about, could he have beaten them if he had possessed the same skills he has currently, just with more power? also would a power punching malignaggi be a threat to anyone in the weight divisions around him, would a fight with pacman be competitive?
HIs decent skills were OVERATED...for a guy that try not to get hit a lot he surely got hit a lot...:crafty: To answer your question...if Malignaggi had more punching power he would be Demarcus Corley....:shit:
god, I hated that guy... he was so fucking boring he and Sharmba Mitchell were two guys that I almost couldnt even watch fight
That right there says it all. People actually think Paulie deserved to be on the big stage but in truth the only reason he was was because of the contender, not his overrated skills.
well if you're me hypothetical topics illicit isults and ridicule. but judging from the responses there's been in your case, it's clearly a personal vendeta that some of the more immature posters here have against me.
