If you had an autographed 1972 Ali/Chuvalo poster, how much would you sell for?

Mint condition poster, autographed by both boxers. Protected inside a glass case. Some old man sold it for $2,000 cash.
I don't know but I thought it would be worth much more.:dunno:

If it was mine I wouldn't part with it for less than £20,000.

It's a priceless relic of a bygone era of sport and boxing in particular.

Hard to believe that Chuvalo actually ended up better off than Ali, neurologically. He's still clear as a plexiglass today.

How much would this poster be worth after Ali's passing?

It's a garbage fight anyway. Why would it be worth anything ?

The eye injury he suffered against Frazier must have been horrendously painful

    Same. Keep it.

And yeah, Chuvalo's sharp. He's been through worse than a boxing career.

I met Chuvalo around 8 years ago. He was friends with this guy I worked for at the time. I was very tempted to test that chin and knock him out with my trademark vicious left hook but opted not to. Just jabbed him silly instead.

    Signed by just Chuvalo?

Old man did very well to get 2 grand for that poster. It's not extremely rare and Chuvalo's not a tough sig.

It has a "personalization" on it, which reduces the value. Still seems quite a bit on the low side. But just remember, if you get something signed and want it to be worth more, forget about having them put your own name on it.

After reading the wiki article on Chuvalo I'm shocked to see what had happened to his family. Almost surreal for someone to endure that much loss...

It's NOT personalized. I just posted a random pic of the poster. The actual poster is simply autographed by both Ali and Chuvalo (their names alone and nothing else) and in mint condition, stored in a glass frame.

I'd have to actually see it and know the dimensions. There's a lot of reproductions of this poster out there, and the number of fake Ali autographs out there is staggering.

It the poster is in MINT condition, I'd wager it's a reproduction.

The exact one you pictured is listed on another website I'm familier with for $4250 retail, and it's definitely real..............though priced much higher then it would ever see in an auction setting.

Well the guy who solid it was in his 60s so who knows if he purchased it on-site at the fight and secured it for years? There was a clip of him selling it on a tv show called Pawnathon but I can't find it online.

Not hard to believe at all.

Ali soaked up a ludicrous amount of punishment in the 70s/80s:

    Frazier 1 and 3
    Norton1, 2 and 3
    Shavers
    Foreman
    Spinks
    Lyle
    Holmes
    Berbick

Chuvalo fought all those guys too. Butterflys just don't stand up to the same abuse bumble-bees do, I guess. Ali went to the hospital after the Chuvalo fight, little known fact. Chuvalo just went home even though his face was like a steak.

Ummm...no. He only fought Frazier and Foreman out of that group and didn't see the 5th round in either fight.

I knew it, I was saying to myself "How long before somebody comes in here and corrects me, literally".

He fought Ali {twice}, Frazier and Foreman, and the fact that he wasn't all that competitive would indicated that maybe he should have the brain damage. He also fought Quarry in a very hard fight and guys like Patterson too.

If you don't want to be corrected, then don't make incorrect statements.

I am perfectly aware of Chuvalo's competition. I'm not the one misrepresenting it.

Oscar Bonavena should have been credited with at least 1, if not 2 legitimate knockdowns of Chuvalo, imo.

Another brace of fights which one should have thought would contribute to brain damage.

If I had something like that autographed to me I would never sell it. I'm always amazed how people sell their shit and personal belongings for a few dollars..

I'd sell it for the highest amount I could get of it. If it's 100$, then I'd take the 100$ with no regrets

I'd trade it for an autographed poster of Roberto Duran and then I'd use that as toilet paper. Of course, I'd have backup toilet paper ready in case it quit on me.

No sense dying with it. :dunno:

Don't know about the example Hanzy saw, but the one he pictured had two modern autographs on it. It wasn't signed when the poster came out.

Guy probably bought the poster on the collectibles market and had it signed by Chuvalo and Ali...............post 1990's, probably 2000's.

Hold onto it as the value will go up after Ali's death.

George thinks he won the rematch and says he outjabbed Ali.
