Ike Quartey vs Antonio Margarito

Prime for prime, of course. What would happen here?

 

Ike beats him up.

 

Margarito had a hell of a chin and a good motor. Both would be on display here. I can see him mounting a late surge but he would have absorbed a whole lot blows to the face beforehand.

Quartey wins a wide decision with Margarito winning some rounds based on activity.

 

I think Ike's jab would do too much damage. He'd bust up Margarito and get a stoppage.

 

I tend to agree. I think Ike would stop him.

8-4 Quartey...

Quartey jab will do a number on Margarito early on 4-5 rounds..bruising/sweeling and stuff...but Margarito fights though it and start landing and winning some rounds in the 2nd half....

I'm thinking of an older/smaller Quartey doing very well against a young, hungry, violent Fernando Vargas....yeah he lose but he won some rounds. Margarito is not as good as Vargas..

 

Yeah but we're talking prime Ike and I don't see Margarito handling what that Ike brings to the table. The jab is Ike's best weapon but it wasn't like he was some one armed bandit. He also hooked beautifully off that jab.

Margarito is game as hell but he's too hittable. He would have his moments and even win rounds but Ike's jab and hooks would make it ugly.

 

Margarito had problems with the Dollar Store version of Quartey (Clottey).

Favoring him over prime Ike makes no sense at all.
