I haven't seen any fights of Quartey at 140 so I don't know how good he was at that weight, but I do know Whitaker didn't have many fights at 140 himself.

I'd bet money on Whitaker to win by a UD 12.

Ike by decision. The fight was easy enough to make, with Main Events serving as Ike's stateside promoter. There was a reason they never made it - and it wasn't fear of Ike losing.

At 147 Whitaker wasn't quite the same fighter, he wouldn't get blown out, but Quartey was damn good at 147 when he was active. I'll go Quartey by UD 12.

Quartey wouldve beat whitaker if they fought anytime after 1994. Too bad Whitaker went into rehab when the fight was scheduled.

Any time after the 1995 trek to 154 against J.C. Vazquez, I would confidently pick Qwerts to win a decision over Whitaker. The Whitaker that beat the legendary Buddy McGirt Sr. may have enough angles to flummox Qwerts on the way to a decision victory

I think Quartey is too stupid to beat Whitaker even in 1997 and I think if it's the best welterweight version of Whitaker vs the best Quartey, Whitaker wins very clearly

I wouldn't consider Quartey a stupid fighter per say.

A stupid fighter to me is Khan or Jermain Taylor. Or maybe in the case of the former.. retarded.

I would say Ike had above average ring IQ, but... his ring IQ wasnt anything special either. Certainly not as high as Pea's.

Agreed that at his best, Whitaker wins clearly.

I mean stupid by the standards of good fighters not leap amateur cunts like Con or a basketball player like Taylor
