Is anyone else watching the Khan- St Clare undercard...? (Spoliers)

Seriously, someone needs to take Warren outside and smash this moolie all around the car park- that first fight was a complete and utter waste of time. It could have been one of the biggest mismatches I have ever seen. :dunno:

This fight is excellent- Jennings has just smashed Minter to the canvas in round 4, but the bell came just in time.

Minter deserves a lot of credit in this fight so far- he looked like he was on his was to be stopped in the 5th but he has shown real heart to stick in and he definitely took that 7th round.

Could go either way now: a real good slug-fest this

lol- Minter pretty much dominates the 8th, and then he walks clean into a flush uppercut and was out on his feet. Completely out. He sort of fell on Jennings and just as he was about to be KTFO, the bell went...

What an excellent fight that was- Jennings knocks a very brave Minter on his back right at the end of the 9th, and after he gets up, he takes more punishment and the towel is thrown in.

Great left hook to end the fight, and a really enjoyable bout overall.

'Still the WBU Welterweight Champion of the World'... No doubt Floyd will be shitting himself

That's as good a fight as I've seen for a little while- two good (but in no way elite) fighters standing in the middle of the ring trying to knock the other clean out.

Michael Jennings looked good tonight- quick hands, good power and he did well in taking some pretty clean shots from Minter, who I thought looked stronger generally, hit a little harder than Jennings but has almost no lateral movement to speak of and is therefore always there to be hit.

I'd like to see Jennings moving up a level and taking a chance or two- sitting around with that WBU trinket forever and a day can't be the limit of his ambition, surely?

The ring intros were great- St Clair sounded like a mook whilst Khan was introduced like the P4P king of the world...

One good thing mind- no friggin national anthem nonsense.

    Fight underway :slap:

Very cagey first round- Khan trying to pick his shots rather than his usual style of just throwing loads of shots. Not a great deal got through, to be fair. St Clair covering up well.

Probably Khan's round on workrate :dunno:

Almost identical second round- Khan jabbing and picking shots but mainly hitting gloves. Very high, 'peek-a-boo' defense from St Clair looks tight. Also, Khan looks susceptible to the right cross.

    Khan again on work IMO

It's like watching the same round over and over again- 3rd is an identikit of the first two, with Khan throwing most of the punches and hitting mainly gloves. He doesn't seem to want to open up.

Khan is DEFINATELY susceptible to the right cross though...

St Clair has actually thrown a few punches in round 4, and when he throws he looks like he can hit Khan, but he is being even more cagey than Khan is, who is still working behind the jab and doesn't seem to want to open up at all.

Khan is winning rounds simply by throwing more shots, even though he isn't landing much at all...

The commentary, BTW, is appalling

Yeah but Gary St Clair is a former featherweight champeen, its only natural that Kahn should be cautious against the naturally larger man.

You should have heard it on the Irish tele tonight for Andy Lee. Sweet jesus. The one thing that always separated boxing from say, Tennis, was that as biased as the crowd was you could always rely on the commentator to do right and call it as it was.

    Thats not the case anymore.

    Thanks for the updates BTW.

St Clair might be waiting for Kahn to get a bit ragged.

This is EXACTLY what he is doing, IMO.

5th round is exactly the same- Khan working more and hitting gloves whilst St Clair sits back, covers up and looks to throw what I presume he must feel is the money right hand.

I would expect St Clair is trying to make Khan go late for the first time and then open up...

Then again Gary might just be happy to cover up, get paid and go home. This is a Frank Warren production, after all.

    Much better 6th round.

As predicted, St Clair has just started to open up. Khan caught clean with two BIG overhand rights and some decent body shots. Khan still hitting gloves. This looks like it is getting interesting.

    St Clair's round, definitely...

St Clair needs to have a long hard look at himself- he spent the 7th round back in his shell whilst Khan wins it simply because he is working more (though hitting almost nothing at all).

If St Clair fucking opens up with right hands, he can win this fight, no doubt...

    A mute???

In America they can't get the refs to STFU.

    Mute is gooooooooooood.

Its DEAF and Blind you have to worry about.

This could be a big coup for militant Islam if Khan wins. They can say he beat a Saint.
