Is Forrest/Baldomir happening or not? And if so, why isn't it on TV?

Does anyone know if this fight is still on for May 19th? According to Maxboxing and Boxrec it is, but I'm doubtful since I've heard absolutely no news about it. Who do you think wins?

Baldomir handles Forrest easily. This May is going to be great for Floyd's legacy.

do you watch fights not involving PBF? and if so, do you limit yourself only to fights involving PBF's past opponents?

:dunno: It's not a matter of Forrest beating him, it's wether he'll shut him out or stop him, I'll put my beautiful signature and avatar on the line against anyone who thinks Baldomir will win more than 2 rounds.

I think the outcome of that wager depends on whose card it is.

Kellerman's already got Forrest ahead 11-0 heading into the 12th.

    Tata's gonna need a knockout.

Depends on how "tata" fights, to be honest.

If Baldomir sells out and goes for broke, he can win a decision (much like Mayorga did), but if he fights at a slow pace, Vernon would pick him apart.

I try limit myself only to the fights involving PBF, his past opponents, the past opponents of his opponents, the past opponents of the opponents of his opponents, etc.....Unfortunately, this grows pretty fast, so I'm forced to watch a lot of boxing. In any case, I have around 10,000 fights on CDs and DVDs......are you looking for a particular fight? Let me know, and I just might have it.........

I also have a special place in my heart for Cotto-Abdullaev and Vitaly-Rahman.

The difference here is Mayorga has some power. Baldomir can't punch his way out of a wet paper bag.

Both Gatti and Judah would disagree...but I see your point.

Mayo is a hell of a lot more aggressive and gung ho than Baldomir, and hits a lot harder. They are not particularly similar at all.

True he hurt those guys, but Mayorga does hit significantly harder than Baldomir.

I prefer watching Vitali fights that actually happened. Like his fights with Tyrd and Lewis.

I actually watched that Cotto-Abdullaev fight a few days ago.

Judah doesn't have a good chin and wasn't KO'ed and Gatti was more used up than your favourite Floyd picture.:tease:

What did you think of Cotto? I've only seen this one once but I remember thinking he looked pretty good even though he got tagged a few times.

This isnt the Forrest of 2002. Vernon is arguably shot. I'm not saying he wont beat Bumlomir, but dont be surprised if he struggles. And if he loses, it wont be a shock to me.

I think Vernon has exactly what it takes to make it a relatively easy fight. Baldomir is always moving forward but he isn't exactly a bumrusher like Mayorga. If Forrest has enough to at least deserve a draw against Quartey (No matter how used up he was) I think he has enough to outpoint Baldomir relatively easily. Baldomir will get tagged with 1-2s all night, his arms are too short to win a battle of jab.

This is a good point, it could be the difference maker in the fight as I agree that Forrest is so shot these days Mosley would probably beat him. At any rate, Forrest is such a passive never go for broke fighter that I can't see Baldi getting shut out for the whole fight. I see Baldi only losing by a couple of points or three.

    Prediction? Boredom.

Thats just the point. Forrest doesnt have an effective jab anymore thanks to his fucked shoulder. All he has is that right hand. His best bet is to try and ice Bumlomir early, cause if it goes late I think Forrest is gonna run into problems.

BTW - Forrest didnt even deserve a draw against Ike. Quartey was robbed.

Good point. I didn't think about Forrest's fucked up shoulder... It doesn't change my perspective on the fight though. I think it is good enough to keep Baldomir in check.

I believe Forrest is fighting on the Taylor/Spinks card... I don't think it's on TV, and I don't believe he's fighting Baldomir.
