Does anyone know? If not, how does he fare against the current crop of 140 and 147 pounders? Does he beat any of the top guys?
Pretty sure he is, though it's not official. And I don't think he'd fare well against any of the current top fighters at 140-147 at this point.
Great fighter but as of right now I can't see him to do much noise anymore, so I don't really miss him.
He is thinking of a comeback and started training in June, but he pointed out that a comeback depends on how his right knee heals and how his body feels during training. http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/videohub/video/clipDeportes?id=2379749 he denies being officially retired, and is still training (as recent as September), but admits he lacks the former desire to get up at 5:00 AM to train. http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/videohub/video/clipDeportes?id=deportes:2484187
Marquez saw the Cotto-Canelo fight a draw. Why so many Mexicans either saw Cotto winning or a draw? :dunno: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/xv0AQPMqv9M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Jones, Hopkins, Whitaker, Floyd, Pac, and Chavez would all laugh at that statement. Marquez was a great fighter who had a GREATER fighter's number. That's all. Pac was better than Marquez and he was greater. But Marquez had the style to give him Hell/beat him.
I'm a huge Marquez fan...HUGE (and no, Xplosive, it's not because Mayweather beat him). Marquez had HEART, power and counter punching brilliance...he was just a baaaad man. GREAT GREAT fighter. It's a pity he never fought Erik Morales and completed the Pacquiao-Morales-Barrera-Marquez circle....
