It should probably be choice #1.

Hell no! Much as I despise Mora, he's too young and slick for Oscar at this point and would probably pull the upset. And even if Oscar won he'd look VERY bad in the process.

It'll probably be Hatton. Dont be surprised if Hatton-Malignaggi gets scrapped. If not Hatton, then a third Mosley fight.

Or if Oscar is REALLY looking for a soft touch, maybe Chavez Jr.

But I cant see him fighting Whora, no way!

I think Mora might have displaced Cotto tonight.

I agree with you that I still think DLH fights Hatton at some point, but I wouldn't be surprised if he fights Mora before he retires.

Chavez Jr. is going to be DLH's comeback fight in 2-4 years.

I dont see it happening bro. It'd be a HUGE fight at Staples Center, but I dont think Oscar would want any parts of Mora's style. Not to mention, Mora is a naturally bigger man, and seems to have a very dependable chin. I dont think many will be in a rush to fight Mora, not outta fear, but he's gonna be difficult to look good against. Most of the top guys at 154 are boring as fuck right now. Mora, Alcine, Spinks, horrible to watch. Santos & Powell can at TIMES be watchable because they have good power, but other times thier boring as well.

Thats why I pray that Kirkland & Angulo can eventually pick up belts one day, and bring some excitement to 154.

Mora could expose just how past it Oscar is. Against Hatton, Oscar could look young again.

De La Hoya is a hell of a lot better Vernon fucking Forrest, I can tell you that right now. I wouldn't be shocked at all if Oscar took this fight. It makes a lot of sense.

You dont see the style problems Mora poses for Oscar? He's a bigger man, he'd be able to take Oscar's best shots, he has alot of younger and desire, seems to have to good stamina, and even has arguably faster hands than Oscar at this point in DLH's career.

It boggles my mind that some people are under the impression that Oscar is still 25-26. I thought he looked like SHIT against Forbes tbh.

Mora is clearly not on the level of a prime Oscar, but right now all bets are off. Mora might be able to steal a decision, and if Oscar does win, he'll look very bad.

There are style problems, sure. But those are going to be present in any number of possible matchups at this point in Oscar's career.

Mora is a popular fighter and rings name recognition. I wouldn't be suprised to see Golden Boy get his hands on Mora (if he hasn't already) and look to turn Sergio into a future star now.

Looking good seems hardly as important to De La Hoya as the fans think it is. If it was, he'd have never fought Steve Forbes.

BTW - Totally unrelated, but just how tall is Forrest? I always thought he was like 6'0", but tonight Showtime listed him as 5'10". To me he seems in-between, closer to 5'11" than 6'0". How tall is he?

Not if he fights Hatton. He'll handle Hatton in the same fashion he did Mayorga, only Ricky isnt as strong as Ricardo.

If Oscar does fight Mora, I'll give him props, cause Mora is one annoying cunt to look good against.

Mora isn't a huge knockout puncher. That's gotta be a plus.

He's very marketable in So Cal and he has some cross over appeal being one of The Contenders, and DLH just got done working with them for his last fight.

Plus it'd be a title fight at 154 instead of a non-title bout at 150.

There are reasons to think it might happen.

I don't see the big positives in a Hatton fight for De La Hoya. Oscar gets far too much venom for my liking. He doesn't have a history of these kinds of fights. A Hatton fight @ 147 wouldn't be a bad one though.

Are you kidding? DLH DESTROYS Hatton inside of 6 rounds at any weight.

You seemed to suggest that you'd like to see Hatton/DLH at 147. Why would you even want to see that matchup? other than to watch Ricky get KTFO and both guys make huge money.

Because it's not a bad fight. Just because there is a percieved outcome thats agreed upon, doesn't make the fight pointless. As you can see from tonight, the "overwhelming majority" sometimes gets it wrong rather spectacularly.

I think Tam was trying to say that it'd be an exciting fight, which it would be. But Hatton is certainly leaving on his back.

If Lazcano's hook can put Hatton on queer street, its academic what Oscar's hook would do to him.

Unless they make a deal before the fight, and Oscar agrees to carry him.

Forrest got himself into trouble in part because he wasn't busy enough with his jab, a punch of his which has never been as straight or as sharp as DLH's. Forrest has always had a lot of loop to all of his punches, which is part of the reason why Mayorga was able to get to his chin.

Forrest also did a lot of waiting in this fight and allowed Mora to get into it and get some confidence. I think DLH sets the initiative more and takes much more control of the fight.

He may do his typical fade job over the second half, but I'd feel comfortable taking DLH to win.

X - he has always been listed at 6 foot, tonight he was listed at 5'10.5 which is bogus imo. Maybe he was slumping.

Vernon is a legit 6 footer if there ever was one. He looked taller than mora too, who was listed as being taller

I'm not so sure bro and its not because I think Mora is special. But Oscar is DONE... The Forbes fight showed us how past it he is. A young, fast, awkward guy like Mora with a seemingly dependable chin is not a fight Oscar would like at this point.

It would however be a big hit at Staples in LA.

    Sergio Mora would BEAT DeLa...

Even N his PRIME, DeLa STRUGGLED w/& even LOST to ATHLETIC Guys...Sergio Mora is VERY Athletic...His HANSPEED, MOBILITY & COMBINATION Punching would TROUBLE DeLa...He's BIGGER than DeLa as Well...

DeLa would LOOK his Age Against a YOUNG, HUNGRY Guy like Mora...DeLa would B SLOW & 1-2 Steps BEHIND Mora the ENTIRE Fight...

Also, Mora Fights w/an UNDERRATED Level of INTENSITY...Dude's FEATHERFISTED, but he Still has Moments of AGGRESSION N All of his Bouts...

Add N the FACT that it'd Probably B N L.A....DeLa would Most Certainly Get Mora's "A" Game & @ this Phase of his Career, that's MORE than Enough to DEFEAT DeLa...

I wouldn't be surprised at all. I could definitely envision another Golden Boys vs. Contenders card with Mora vs DLH as the main event.

Now that Mora has a belt, I can see DLH liking the fight. If I know DLH, he will take the big payday with Ricky first and then fight Mora.
