So it looks like Madrimov is scheduled to face Bohachuk for December 21 and then Ortiz Jr for February 22. Is there any current fighters that does this nowadays? Talk about old school mentality, trying to keep themselves active and fighting more often, especially against the best fighters. I’m just concerned how he’ll look going into the Ortiz fight. I don’t think 2 months is enough time to recover, especially fighting 2 monster punchers. But we’ll see how he does it. Madrimov's Trial By Fire: Bohachuk, THEN Ortiz Jr. In 63 Days! - Boxing News 24
He won't have 2 months to recover. He'll be back in camp within 2 or 3 weeks tops after the bohachuck fight. Hopefully for him he wins with relative ease
Let's be realistic: This ONLY works out if he either blows out Bohachuk, or dominates to the extent that he doesn't incur any damage. If he struggles, and should get swelled up or gets cut, quite obviously the Ortiz fight will have to be scrapped. Well, not scrapped, but just postponed until the spring.
It was confirmed by doctors this evening that Israil Madrimov is suffering from acute bronchitis and has to withdraw from the Dec 21 fight with Bohachuk. British fighter Ishmael Davis will replace Madrimov who will now rest and recover for his scheduled fight on Feb 22 fight with Vergil Ortiz.
Guess Madrimov didn’t want to take that chance against Bohachuk before fighting Ortiz. Figured it was too good to be true. x.com
