I was watching Calderons last fight and I must say this kid is the best pure boxer PR has produced since the great Wilfredo Benitez. I say he the best boxer right now and i would rank him up there with Floyd Mayweather Jr as far as boxing ability goes. We all know Calderons weaknesses, size and power.

Where does Calderon rank among PR greatest boxers?

Talent-wise, close to the top. But historical rankings are never based on talent and potential. Otherwise, Hector Camacho would have to rank high among such a list.

The Cazares fight was a huge step in the right direction toward establishing legacy, but Ivan still has a way to go before warranting consideration as an all-time great, even among just one island.

I'd rank him in the lower divisions in that regard.

Maybe he can gain 30 pounds to get to a division where people care.

i dont know if it means anything, but he'd certainly rank among the best straweights of all time behind Finito.

I wish he can! But he's too small! He pushed the limits with Cazares who was a couple weight classes heavier than Calderon.

Agreed. We can't judge his all time status until he's old enough to turn pro. He's a bright prospect though.

My wife laughs at me when she sees me watching fights where the guys are barely taller than the top rope.

talent wise he is an alltimer already. I can't believe people still rip his fight with Cazares when most were predicting an easy ko for Cazares.

when they got in the ring Cazares' weight was 130 for fucks sake. As if Calderon didnt' have a huge disadvantage already.

I hope Calderong unifies the tittle at 108, Cazares clearly has no business fighting there which is why I don't want to see a rematch. He should fight guys his size for once.

THe first 6 rounds against Cazares was a clinic from Calderon. He was flawless.

Looking good in light sparring doesn't mean a thing. Until he takes a punch from an actual boxer we don't know

He's only recorded a couple of significant wins. If that gets you onto some P4P all-time lists, the competition for spots must be pretty bare.

I see what your saying but Ivan's boxing abilility cant be denied. I think he's one of the most talented boxers PR ever produced. He needs more quality opponents to cement his p4p status but his size will limit him as far as who he can fight.
