    Im not familiar enough with Lamotta's career to have any useful input on this. The fights he had with Murphy didn't seem to bode well for how Lamotta would deal with the range deficit here,but he was past his best by then and heavier

    LaMotta's Biggest Asset Against Ray Robinson was his STRENGTH & SIZE Advantage...He WOULDN'T have that Against Bernard...REED's Seen his Fair Share of LaMotta Bouts & Never Quite GOT what was Soooooo "Great" about Him, Aside from Being the 1st Man to Beat Robinson...

    Tough, Durable Guy for Sure...Bernard's Tough & Durable as Well Though, Not to Mention More SKILLED than LaMotta & More ATHLETIC than LaMotta...

    LaMotta Makes Bernard WORK Every Step of the Way, but BHop Takes a VERY Convincing UD Here...

    What Robinson could or couldn't do with Lamotta is irrelevant. Leonard couldn't embarass Duran but Hearns could.

    Hopkins doesn't lose to Fulmer or Turpin in 100 tries.

    Robinson had a legendary record and was the first slick black fighter to revolutionize the sport...and deservedly has the consensus P4P title...but let's not get carried away here.

    Bernard not HALF the fighter Robinson was?

    UTTERLY PREPOSTEROUS statement! Especially at Middleweight.

    Agreed with this. Robinson's record is legendary, but watching from the film it is not like there was a giant gulf in skill between him and Hopkins

    There is probably a gulf... just not as big a Romanza suggests. Hopkins was more like 4/5 the fighter Robinson was. :kidcool:

    I was thinking in terms of talent, as Hopkins is a master craftsman. Like Roy Jones, Robinson could do things Hopkins could only dream about.

    After what, 160/170 fights and facing Robinson's schedule and level of opposition,
    guess again, in the case of Fullmer. The Turpin shot is an extremely low blow youre making.

    Not sure about that. Punching power is obvious (for a welterweight Robinson) but the differences in speed, movement or combination punching are not that huge. Robinson was not as quick and athletic as Roy Jones was

    People act that Robinson was the GOAT in every single conceivable category. He wasn't and you are correct...he was rather hittable for a slick black speedy fighter. Bernard is significantly more elusive.
