Toney beat Jirov to become #1 of cruisers when the division was still 190 lbs and went on to become a heavyweight contender Haye beat Mormeck to become #1 of cruisers and went on to become a heavyweight contender. Two guys who don't like to lead. Haye is a leap amateur with good movement and a beastly cross, whereas Toney has great defense and variety of punches. If the two meet at cruiser or at heavy, how does it go
If Toney bothers, he can surely take advantage of Haye's awful technique and hurt him with counters... Or he just likes burgre king by a mile and allows himself to accomplish fuck all other than blocking Haye's occasional leap amateur power shots
I saw clogg had replied and came into this thread expecting to see "Haye jabs and moves all night to a wide/easy UD while Toney stands around rolling his shoulders looking clueless" Though in all honesty I think (in my mind) Haye would probably win this one
:l2: When have I ever picked anyone to beat Toney that couldn't box? He has always had a tremendous amount of difficulty with boxers who move well... it's kryptonite to his style... but that doesn't mean any old schmuck can do it Roy Jones is the only guy with horrible technical quality that could whup Toney that way
cdogg&Hut have a Scottish take on what 'horrible technical quality' means. In football, according to them, it means doing anything else than jumping up elbows high to take headers

I agree that styles favor Haye, skills favor Toney. By a LOT. I'll pick Toney, assuming he is on his game. He's a much better fighter than Haye and that will overcome the tough style matchup. Reminds me of a GQ article I read about Mike Tyson from a few years ago. He said he's a fan of Haye, even though Haye "sucks as a fighter". Haye and Khan are perhaps the most overrated fighters in recent years.
