I have a hard time not seeing Fenech charging headlong into some totally unorthodox BOMB and getting stopped

hes a greater fighter than Hamed, but styles make fights

no one claims hamed to be 'great', yet he sure beats a lot of so called 'great' fighters in mythical matchups due to contrast of styles.

i think hamed was a special talent. it's just too bad that he didn't face any marquee names during his prime.

or maybe, from Hamed's point of view, it's for the best that he didn't face any marquee names during his prime.

Well he could hardly be any more lowly regarded in relation to his potential as he is now. I personally think Naz circa 98 or so was a fighter on approximately the Morales/Barrera level. No better but not a lot worse. He was a stylistic train wreck by the time Oscar Suarez had spent 3 years trying deconstruct and put him back together again, not to mention him spending more time getting his hair groomed than training.

I think that at any point in his career, had Hamed lost, it would've been in dominant fashion.

It's also possible that without Steward and Suarez, Hamed would've been KTFO even before facing the likes of MAB.

It's debatable. In my opinion, he gets more credit than he deserves. Sounds like you think he gets less.

If you think he gets more, than it was a good thing he held off on fighting the best guys. If you think he gets less, than it wasn't.

That's the nature of it, just like with Tyson. How good he was is pretty much left to subjective judgement. I won't argue the point too strongly. And in the end it's hard to sympathize too much with either guy, they both squandered the chance to really find out how far their talent might have taken them, greatness wise.

if you give me a skilled boxer with a good chin, Ill take him over Hamed any day in MMs

but aggressive guys with not the greatest defense in the world?? yeah thats a bad matchup against a fast unorthodox guy with crazy power

I dont think that makes Hamed "great"

I say Fenech was greater because he accomplished more

I don't think anyone would call Hamed greater than Fenech. They're both very, very unlikeable individuals. A double-KO would be just the ticket
