I read with interest recently that Quarry once stated he was, "absolutely sure," he would have beaten Marciano.

    Thoughts on Quarry's take, gents?

I don;t know if he would have beat him but he would have given him a tough fight... He would have had success with the counter hook

I think he'd lose a hundred out of a hundred, personally.

Competitive is fair, I could agree with that. Its a horrible style match though, and late in the fight, it might turn very uncompetitive.

I wonder if Quarry's words were at all motivated by thn resentment he very likely had for Marciano?

See I think it's a real good style matchup... Quarry's at his best against an aggressive guy coming right at him

    Do you really?

I like Quarry against aggressive guys too, because he was a quick-fisted counter-puncher...someone like Foreman was always at least an outside chance to lose, but a guy who threw as much as Marciano, for as long as he did, would always give counter-punchers at Quarry's level fits, IMO.

I agree that eventually, Marciano's workrate is the difference, but I think he eats some vicious counters for much of the first 10 rounds or so
