What do you guys know about him? I've never seen him fight, but I'll have my hands on his fight with Chris Smith by tomorrow.

I'm going to watch him fight David Estrada the night before Cotto/Margarito. Should I be looking forward to it?

Absolutely. Should be a war. I will probably bet on Estrada, if the odds are good enough. I don´t know what some people see in Karass, with all the late bloomer crap. He´s like a piss-poor version of Margarito.

Soto-Karass is pretty limited, but is durable with decent pop and is always in good actions fights. He's one of my favorite fighters to watch on Telefutura. But I actually had him losing to Chris Smith. Not sure if he underestimated Smith or not, either way...he looked like shit in that fight. I think you should try to peep his fights with Michel Rosales and Vince Phillips, if possible.

I remember seeing Soto-Karass on Versus (I think) not too long ago, I think he was fighting Silky Sanders... Him and Estrada should be a good fight :fightme:

Soto-Karass is to the point where he's already getting by on wars from the past. The moment his name is mentioned, people talk as if he's yet to fight this year - he's already fought twice in '08 and quite frankly, looked like shit (or sluggish, to be kind) both times out.

I like him in regards to fighters on the lower-to-mid range level, but I don't see him advancing any further. He's a poor man's Antonio Margarito, not to mention his chief sparring partner. But as valuable as such an experience can be, it could also be affecting him - I don't know if he's leaving too much of himself in the gym, or if maybe past wars are catching up to him. Whatever the case, he's already looking sluggish at a point where he should really be hitting his prime.

That said, Estrada's probably further along in his career. Should be a fun fight, but perhaps more of a loser-leaves-town match than anything else.

He fought Buendia on Versus last year, probably the best fight ever - and one of the few memorable moments - on that network. Both of his '08 fights (Sanders and Chris Smith) were Telefutura, which is basically where he lives.

from what Tony's manager has said Tony takes it fairly easy on Soto Karass but you can tell the beating he takes in the gym with Tony, and yeah its a beating he takes, is starting to fuck up his action in the ring

also, he isn't the most dilligent of workers. Of Capetillo's fighters, he is the one guy who is either late, out of shape, or dogging it when in camp. He doesn't have that mentality to work hard IMO and its been showing of late

he will be ok/good for 1 more year max and then fall off dramatically.
