I like Calzaghe with a close decision in this one. It's not my speed to give the benefit of the doubt to even great fighters who've not proven too much at new weights, & Calzaghe didn't at Light-Heavy. This much, & Tarver was no slouch in his own right. However, I still feel a Calzaghe points victory in this fight. Tarver cannot bomb him out, ala Jones, nor can he expect to out-work his man. Tarver was not the best of counter-punchers, & to my way of thinking, you need to be a good counter-puncher, with fast hands & a developed sense of timing, to get the better of Calzaghe. I think Tarver struggles to contain him in the later rounds, & ultimately concedes to going through the motions by about the tenth. Calzaghe just too strong overall, for mine. 8-4, 116-112.
