It's a head on collision and the bigger guy is going to win.

Frazier is just bigger and stronger and in the type of fight this would be, that is what matters

Frazier is not any bigger. He gives up height & reach, & if anyone thinks ten pounds in weight is going to make the difference against Jack Dempsey (or any true great Heavy), I think they are kidding themselves.

As to the fight, this is left hooks at twenty paces! I can see two scenarios --- either Dempsey's fast-start & brutal, hi-tempo offense take Frazier out of the contest (such as a refereeing stoppage), or it becomes a long-, drawn-out war of attrition. Now, I'm not one to just hand the latter scenario to Frazier --- if Dempsey is under-rated anywhere, it's in the areas of grit & endurance, especially the latter. I also call his chin better than Frazier's. However, a long battle down the stretch is still Frazier's territory, & I think he might get the jump on Dempsey in the championship rounds.

Which is more likely? Hard to say, but if pushed, I think I would go with Dempsey by TKO in the first four-to-six rounds. Something tells me his punches, delivered with speed & accuracy much greater than Foreman's, would do real damage in this fight.

It would be cool if size mattered in boxing as little as Ramonza thinks. Who knows, maybe he is right even, but I just don't see it

We have the luxury of leaving that debate aside here, Ugo, because Frazier isnt bigger than Dempsey.

Nonsense, he is. Do you fellas really think size is going to decide this fight, even if that were true? Dempsey's frame is just as big, in any event --- his reach greater, & his height further.

It's a war at ring-center, & I'll take the man with the better two-handed attack (though Frazier's right hand downstairs remains criminally under-rated), sturdier whiskers, faster hands & quicker start out of the blocks, if made to choose.

Height wouldn't matter, this fight would take place at close quarters. Frazier is definitely the bigger man, and also stronger. He'd have to be favored here.

Dempsey against a great black heavyweight? A true mythical matchup indeed.

I'll take Frazier in this, though agree that it would be a war.

What is the basis for Frazier being stronger? Dempsey did better at holding his own at close-quarters with big men (including some very strong & capable ones, like Fred Fulton) just as much as Frazier did, with the likes of Mathis Sr (a far inferior fighter to Fulton).

How the hell do you get Mathis Sr. being inferior to Fred Fulton????

Mathis Sr was a highly accomplished amateur with polished boxing skills and technique

Fred Fulton was a lumbering white hope behemoth with zero skill

MARVIS Frazier would sodomize Fred Fulton
