    Idiot

As I have been posting here for the last several weeks, Carlos: that Idiot hot headed Latino manager has cost Joel millions due to his poor decision making thinking the Cuban is more than he is worth combined with an abraisive attitude that comes from never being a competitive boxer himself.
I wish Joel the best of luck and hope he has kicked that slob to the curb.

I seriously doubt it. That "slob" was in the group picture that was attached to the distributed press release.

He serves his purpose, though - he's the only man on the planet who can understand what the hell Casamayor is saying.

i doubt he understnds sht. he prlly just says what he as a manager would've liked for Casa to say. and in the end, it's probably all for the better.

Good for Casamayor. Now the REAL Lightweight champ can get back to fighting.

thats if he is wanted by any networks. Casa's style stinks up the joint and is anything but crowd pleasing. He will have a little more leverage now he is with GBP, but something tells me he will have a hard time getting HBO/Showtime to invest any money in him. Unless he can land a fight with Juan.

He also serves a bigger purpose. By pricing Joel out of fights, he reduces pains from infecting my eyes.

Smells like a Frank Warren, who signed WBA champ M´Baye to get back at Ricky Hatton, but had no real interest in the fighter himself. Oscar is probably looking for an opportunity to get back at Juan Diaz.

a more likely scenario is that ODH & Co. are trying to make as much money as possible.

yes. with Casamayor. this is a small-time market here. high margins. low volume. that's what we're talking about here. the best is the best. we the consumers know this.

there's not a lightweight in the world who can do good numbers without a real match-up. thank god.

champ or not, i dont really care to see casamayor. he's clearly past his prime and isn't the most exciting fighter to begin with.

I don't know about that. With King bring Juan-Julio to Chicago, the city will now become familiar with all three Diaz lightweights. David can easily fight Juan there sometime next year. Or they can fight in Houston.

Casamayor out of the picture has actually opened up the division. Odd, considering Casa's willing to fight anyone. But if the others are willing to fight each other for a lot less than Casa's asking price, then why do they need to go to him?

What I do find funny, though, is that Casamayor has been reinstated as a WBC champ - though of the interim variety, while Diaz is regarded as their full-fledged champ. Which means, if David HAS to fight him, Top Rank/8 Count can be prickish about it, allow the fight to go to purse bid, and David will make more (55%) for such a fight than Casa.

That said, I'd rather see David Diaz vs the winner of Juan-Julio (Juan) than against Casa. In fact, like joony said, regardless of Casa's status as "linear" lightweight champ, never again seeing him in the ring wouldn't be terribly upsetting.

    LIAR!!!!

You and Joony are hoping for another "Brokeback Weekend" in Chicago!!!

Cupey, how does it feel to underwrite "Brokeback Fightbeat Weekend" for these two clowns?

Jake to Joony when he announced he'd no longer write for Fightbeat, "I don't know how to quit you"

I couldn't have said it better, Jake. Let the Diaz's fight. Then the winner (Juan) fights Casa.

Joel needs to get in the ring soon and stay active if he hopes to have a shot against Juan.
Joel is one of my favorites over the past 15 years whom I have followed since the amateurs, but as I indicated before that loud mouthed manager of his turns me off.
Joel needs to move up to jr welter and win a title there instead of facing Juan whom he is not going to beat at this advanced stage in their respective careers.
At his peak, Joel Casamayor would have beaten Juan Diaz, but that was then and this is now.

without a doubt. but a fight with Juan would probably make much more money for Casa especially in unification bout. Rather than anyone besides Hatton at Jr. WW. If I was Casamayor, I would get the fight with Juan, if I lost then go up to Jr. WW and try to get a title shot there. I am sure Paulie would fight him in the garden.

Casamayor is supposed to fight on the Mosley-Cotto undercard, maybe against Santa Cruz.

That'd be a good fight...and a pretty damned decent opponent after a long layoff.

    Peace.

Casa said on Boxtalk he wants Katsidis. That'd be a great fight! But unfortuntely for Katsidis, Casa would probably cut him to shreds.

yeah I read that. Casa says he don't want a tune up just big fights.

I think right now at 135 that is the biggest fight he could make. Not to mention it would be action packed.

He'd stop Katsidis on cuts in about 5 or 6 rounds.
