Jofre would have to be truly on form to win this one. Obviously you'd expect nothing less from him, but if you have a lapse in concentration against Zarate, you're getting blasted. Zarate's power is definitely enough to lead to a stoppage if he connects right. Jofre's chin gets overrated IMO, although his powers of recovery are probably quite underrated. He was badly hurt - but rode out - rough spots against Harada, Medel, Legra, and I think the guy's name was Secca. I think if it was a guy like Zarate in there after he'd hurt him, it's all over. I doubt it's too controversial to conceive a stoppage for Zarate, either. I do think Jofre would take it, though. He'd work Carlos out of his wheelhouse and reduce his workrate with counters and body work. I have a feeling from there, Jofre's superior ring generalship could make Zarate feel a little lost in there. Carlos would likely wind up neglecting the jab as he'd be countered cleanly as Jofre finds his range. He'd probably reduce Zarate to potshottting in the long run and I see Jofre actually stopping Zarate either after stunning him with a body shot, or following up after hurting Jofre with a nasty counter. Maybe not, though. A decision win for Jofre which winds up being quite one sided down the stretch. Either that or a stoppage.
I see Jofre via stoppage. Not a blowout the way Gomez did, as Jofre wasn't as dynamic as Gomez, but I do see Zarate getting KO'd in the end.
I'll take Jofre by decision or maybe even stoppage. More well rounded, skilled, dynamic, and clever than Zarate's more powerful but rather methodical style. Jofre would be able to withstand Zarate's power and use his better ring IQ, body attack, and creative offense to beat him.
