I have Marquez winning this fight (possible stoppage late). My only concern is the 10 year age advantage Bradley has over him. A fighter can get old overnight, you never know. Thoughts on who wins?
Could end early in Marquez' favour. The Rusky could have softened up Bradley's chin enough for Marquez to land one right hand and end the fight. I hope Bradley wins though.
If Bradley is sufficiently rebounded from his brutal encounter with the big Russkie/Indigenous punisher, I think he gives Marquez an extremely difficult fight and the longer it goes, the more I favor him to win
That was just one fight, it seems very premature to think Bradley might be shot from that. He even won the fight, it's not like he took a 1 sided pasting and was stopped. My guess is Bradley is fine, he doesn't strike me as a particularly fragile fighter. Marquez KO 10.
He was literally seconds form being stopped in that fight... the Russkie ran out of time... He was very badly hurt many times He'll give JMM hell
Bradley moves great when he's focused. He could make Marquez miss more than we expect. But then again, Marquez' timing is second to none.
It was a violent fight for sure, but there were only 2 times he seemd really badly hurt - early, and in the 12th round. It didn't strike me as the sort of fight where either guy would be done afterwards, it wasn't quite Chico - Castillo 1, put it that way. Or even as violent as Rios Vs Alvarado 1. Unless Marquez has aged overnight, which is always a possibility with fighters circa 40 years of age, I expect Marquez to stop him after a tough fight.
marquez is the best fighter of the past 25 years but he is old as fuck, particularly his legs. he still has good reflexes and can pull the trigger with fast combos but if bradley can move and make marquez lead he has a good chance to win a decision.
I guess so, but I think Marquez is clever enough to figure something out if Bradley does try that, and still get the better of him. He's not going to blindly follow Bradley and get outboxed. He'll set traps and counter him.
I agree. My biggest concern is the AGE factor. 39 is old for a boxer (Hopkins is the exception ::) Like mentioned IF Marquez is in top form he wins.
:: Sorry, man, I just don't see it... He's a terrific fighter, he's had a fine career... but if you go all the way back to 1988, there is some seriously stiff comp There's no way I'd take him over Floyd, JCC, Pete, Roy and the Pac-Man just to name 5
when marquez struggles with some russian radish farmer like pestryaev then we can consider mentioning whitaker in the same sentence as him!
if you wanna mention whitaker or chavez as contenders for best fighters of the past 25 years. then you must look at their resumés post july of 1988
MWS, you class JCC as "a solid pro" (:atu:) , I am not taking your opinion too seriously when it comes to evaluating him against Marquez Whitaker would have whupped the shit out of Marquez and had him charring chimichangas in Chihuaha by Christmas
I did, and it is still more than enough... I'm not just going by resume, I'm going by fighting. Both of those guys were better at fighting than JMM. Neither one lost in their prime years to dudes like Freddie Norwood or Chris John
whitakers post 88 resumé was basically when he produced all his best wins. certainly cuts into chavez's accomplishments. marquez was jobbed vs norwood, by the referee and judges. i had him winning that bout. never saw his fight with chris john. chavez barely beat laporte.
After getting stomped by Chavez, Marquez would be meandering through Mexico City, running a shop called "Marquez Markers" specializing in pens and pencils
:: I never said "solid pro", he's obviously more than that, I think I said "solid world champion". I don't see him as a super elite fighter. I don't even dislike him, I just find him really overrated.
after juan manuel gave julio a hellacious hiding, a chin checked chavez would be chasing chupa cabras in chiapas with chapo guzman
