Primes of course. Everyone knows that Jackson can take out anybody he hits. Could Vargas possibly outbox him if he stays smart the way he did against Quartey??...

Who outboxed Jackson? The problem with Julian, was that he wasn't just a banger. He was quick and had a knack of finding the right time and place to land the bombs. His accuracy was very underrated.

You knocked Jackson out, or you were knocked out. Vargas been KOed by almost every good fight he ever faced. People hold onto the QUartey fight...and they should, because its the only time he faced a dangerous fighter, who could also punch, and he made it 12.

Agreed, his fight with Terry Norris was a testament to that.

Vargas could give him problems, but as I've stated before, he never really proved he could seal the deal against a real puncher (unless you consider Quartey a puncher above 147, but that's questionable IMO... and Yori Boy Campas was NOT really a big puncher at the world class level, as several career losses exposed). Vargas was good enough to be competitive with punchers, but just couldn't beat them. I'd stick to that tradition and say Jackson KOs him too, after a hard battle.

I dont even think it would be a hard battle. I think Julian would blow him away. Vargas is one of the biggest suckers to left hooks in history, and he's not quick enough or good enough defensively to avoid Jackson's bombs. The left hooks that Tito nailed Vargas with early that put him down... when Julian catches him like that, Vargas wont be getting up. Vargas would be LUCKY to see round 5. Personally I think Jackson ends it within 3.

Wow. I thought there would be a lot of    in this thread.

I can't believe people think non-defensive minded Vargas can hang with one of the hardest punchers in P4P history.

He may hang around after the 10 count that's for sure.

First of all I missed the part where Vargas outboxed Quartey. He outbrawled him. Anyway I agree Vargas gets liquidated in this one.

Jackson definitely hit harder than Trinidad. I think Tito had more talent than Julian overall, but in terms of pure power, Jackson's got Trinidad there.

First when Vargas beat Quartey, Quartey was returning from his longest layoff to date. Secondly Jackson could be outboxed, Graham was, Norris was rather easily til he got careless. Still I don't know Vargas was a better a boxer than Jackson. He was a stronger fighter and just as tough, but his knack for getting hit may have played into Jackson's strength, one punch knockout power.

No, Jackson COULDNT be outboxed, least off all by the two guys you mentioned. Oooh, Norris and Graham did it, did they? No. They lasted for about seven rounds, COMBINED. That ain't outboxing anything. I guess Judah outboxed Tszyu too?

Amen. Jackson couldnt be outboxed in his prime. It was either you take him out, or he takes you out. And Vargas aint taking him out so......

I take your point, but you are over simplifying it somewhat IMO.

Jackson was NOT the one-dimensional KO machine many claim he was- he undoubtedly had good fundamental skills, sharp movement of hands and feet, world class left hook etc, BUT, Graham was one of the most slick fighters ever and he toyed with Jackson for the whole of their four rounds, save for the second it took for Jackson to land THAT shot.

And it was always going to take a shot like that to win the fight for Jackson against Herol, and to his credit, he landed it. If he hadn't landed a bomb like that, he would have lost a wide, wide decision, because Graham was quicker (generally), much more slick, threw shots from weird angles and was much harder to hit- the punch that KO'd him was about the first that Jackson landed in the fight.

For all of that, Jackson WOULD have been capable of outboxing Vargas- their is a BIG difference between the uber-slick Herol Graham and Nando.

IMO, Jackson would have ICED Vargas in 4
