    Dinos stomp box office records.

Once again all predictions were wrong. Despite lukewarm reviews, audiences flocked en masse to theaters to watch the newest entry in the 90‘s dinosaur franchise resulting in box office records being shattered in the process. The predictions were putting Jurassic World with a smashing $130 million opening, but by Friday’s numbers everybody was scratching those predictions and placing it with a second best ever opening of over $190 million. Scratch that again. Now the numbers look more like $204 million just three million shy of the all time record set by Marvel The Avengers, BUT that is if the ticket sales flatlines due to a sport event tonight. If that does not affects the tickets sales (we will know by tomorrow afternoon the exact totals), then even the Avengers records might be shattered too! The film has also set a global record as the first film ever to reach over half a billion dollars on its opening weekend ($511 million to be exact). Audiences gave it a better score than critics with an ‘A’ in Cinemascore which means this is THE movie champion of the summer. Audiences demographics were divided almost equally which means the film appealed to all audiences of both genders and of all ages with the highly desirable under age of 25 making a solid 39% of ticket buyers. All this places Universal Pictures as the current leader of the studios as the combined numbers of this film, Furious 7 and Pitch Perfect 2 has other studios, including Disney, trailing behind (well at least until Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in December.

No other film opened this week, so Jurassic World main competitor was last week’s #1 film Spy which made $188 million less with $16 million in a distant second spot.

San Andreas had a 57% drop in its third week with $11.1 million for a current domestic total of $119 million. Worldwide it has grossed so far $307 million.

In the fourth place Insidious Chapter 3 had a 67.8% decline and took only $7.3 million in its second week.

And finally in the fifth spot Pitch Perfect 2 added $6 million to is account for a domestic total of $170 million and counting. Globally the pitches film has a current total of $259 million. If you take in consideration it only cost $25 million to make, then this is THE most successful film of the summer so far.

First Jurassic Park is easily a 10/10 movie. Truly a timeless classic.

Second was mediocre. Like a 6/10.

    Third was horrible.

What I'm hearing about this on is that it might be better than 2nd and 3rd, but nothing is ever topping the first.

I don't even remember which ones i saw other than the first. Started out realy interesting and then just degenerated into some lame thriller for the sake of putting in some "action". Instead of some maniac with a chainsaw or a bunch of wolves chasing people it was dinosaurs.

    Run!! Run!! Hide!! Run!!

I guess that was supposed to be offset because of some vague ethical question about playing with nature and so on. "You see it's actually a serious movie and more than just special effects!" :baa:

Yeah, I know I've seen 2 and 3, but I don't remember them at all.

Last part reminds me of all the critics who tell us that the George Romero zombie movies were really a complicated metaphor about American consumerism. No you asshole, it was just about zombies eating brains.

    Just saw it.

It was pretty good! Definitely MUCH better than 2 and 3. "Like I said before", nothing is touching the first one, but I was pleasantly surprised by how decent Jurassic World was.

    7.5/10

Ridiculous that the special effects in the first film are still the GOAT 22 years later

I enjoyed the 2nd and the 3rd. Seeing dinosaurs chase people is just fun.

Agreed. The raptors and T-rex in the first one looked MORE realistic than the ones in this movie. And there's no excuse for that considering it was 22 years ago.

The 2nd one was pretty good until the end when the T-rex escaped off the Island. Then it just got stupid.

    The third one was shit.

The Trex didnt escape off the island, he was taken off the island. The third one i actually liked better than the 2nd.

The first Jurassic Park was so influential that it inspired the name of a sports franchise.

How many movies have done that?

You're correct, but you know I know what I meant. Got off the Island....

    I'd have to re-watch the 3rd...

I disagree. The graphics in the first one are noticeably dated. You can see the blue hue. The T-rex only looks better upclose, because it's a mechanical Trex and not CGI. but the running Trex looks bad in the first one.

See the upclose one looks pretty good because in reality, it's real. It's a mechanical trex. But when they show the whole Trex, it's Cgi and looks outdated.

No, I remember that the trex was brought off the Island.

For some reason, the 2nd one is ALWAYS on!

They seldom play the first one, and virtually never the 3rd. But they show the shit outta the 2nd!

Just been looking into this one....they've created a new dinosaur which is twice the size of a t rex, has the intelligence of a man, can change colour, open its jaws 180 degrees and run on all 4s? Riiiiiiiiiggght. Add that to the trained raptor army and the 700 foot crocodile and i cant go for that.

Biggest blooper of this movie. Not to give too much away, but this new dinosaur is the same fuckin size at the trex! Not only the same size, it looks SMALLER than the trex from the earlier ones.

Well that was the point of the movie tho. They always went too far, genetically modifying them. I can handle the train raptors, because they are highly intelligent. We train dolphins for crying out loud. I could also deal with the 50 (not 700 foot) croc, since there really existed (Deinosuchus)

Baseball's Texas Rangers were named after the TV series Walker: Texas Ranger.

As far as movies go the Miami Heat were named after the 1959 film - Some Like it Hot.

The trex in all three movies never mainted the same size. It's like they didnt know what size to make it or couldnt get it right in the CGI aspect next to the other humans.

    Its official:

'Jurassic World' dethroned 'Marvel's The Avengers' as THE all time best opening ever. After the final numbers were tallied today, the new record is $208.8 million in three days. Stan Lee & Disney are sad.

Jurassic World will hold this record for less than a year. Batman vs. Superman will shatter it next spring.
