I dont know when they got the training footage but Judah looks hungry and serious, he's looking sharper than Cotto is to me!! And I'm not just saying this because I'm rooting for him either....what do all my new friends here at FIGHTBEAT.com think?????:dunno:

Judah looks focused. I think he has matured as a person and we´ll see a different Zab on Saturday.

I don't know how you got that out of this segment. I really didn't care for this countdown special at all, to be honest.

    I second that.

Judah will have to stick to beating down crackheads over craps after this fight.

Yea they need to build up all megafights like this and how they did Cinco De Mayo this year....Makes it more attractive...back in the day they would always show clips of Sugar Ray Leonard at camp working hard...it builds the fight up big time...people need to see the hard work that some boxers endure to make the fight great night for the fans at home and in attendance!! For big fights..whatever network should show 30 minutes worth of footage of both fighters training camps 4 weeks prior to the fight on each Saturday..and have the finale of the last week combined with the weigh in and press conferences on the Friday before the fight..Castillo/Hatton, Winky/Bernard..etc..

This isn't a megafight. Its a somewhat known champion fighting a shoulda, woulda, coulda fighter. This should be a co main event with Wright/Hopkins, that would be a mega-card.

agreed, and thats why it would be perfect on the same card as Cotto/Judah. Not one of the four have enough star power to make a mega-fight on their own. But if boxing was ran like it should be, they would put more mega-cards together hence building mainstream star power for future megafights. When Cotto KO's Judah, he will be on his way. Which could make a megafight with Floyd, if he isn't retired:rolleyes:

I disagree. I always felt Cotto got shookup more because of shots to his temple area, not his chin. Judah's chin isn't as bad as advertised either, even getting shaken up by Baldomir was a fluke occurence. However, his toughness is questionable and I wonder how he's going to take it to the body seeing as how Floyd was hurting him there in another fight where he supposedly trained his ass off.

Both guys chins are underrated but Judah's the guy who's been dropped so often. Once by a no name, once by a pillow puncher named Spinks, and twice with one punch by a future hall of famer.

So far out of all of the countdown specials, this has been my least favorite one. The last 5-10 minutes seemed rushed as hell. I was surprised they didn't mention Cotto avenging his loss to Abdullaev in the pros and something about the Malignaggi fight. And I was hoping to see sparring footage, like Cotto cutting his sparring partner at a media day workout while he was wearing headgear, and Judah's sparring with Peterson Bros & Juan Urango. But oh well...I'm looking forward to the fight regardless.

Exactly, this was my biggest problem with the show - well, that and any show that claims Franklin McNeil as an expert source on any subject, but that's for another day.

But yeah they were JUST getting up to Tszyu knocking out Zab and Cotto turning pro at the halfway point of the show.

I felt like they wasted time on whatever fights their "experts" were more familiar with. To stay as long as they did on Pinto, and NOT show Abdullaev was ridiculous. The Abdullaev fight was the first time Cotto headlined the Garden, and the first time where this weekend would become HIS weekend - eve of Puerto Rican Day Parade (this is the third year he fights on such weekend).

That said, the PPV commercials have been even worse. Everyone keeps insisting that 2007 Zab is the "wiser, more mature version" , but the commercial tagline for Zab is "... boxing's bad boy, will do whatever it takes to win."

didnt everyone bitch and moan about Floyd fighting Zab? Didn't HBO refuse to do a countdown to floyd-judah because judah lost to Baldomir?

why the fuck is this fight on PPV?

I can't wait for the replay of this fight! This fight has the ignorant kid in me so pumped after that special! Judah has really grown as a person likely to be incarcerated later in life. Cotto has so much (and perhaps past it's peak) potential that this could propel him to greatly protected things.

I pick Cotto in a controversial Split Decision. Controversial because the fight was made in the first place

Judah looked hungry and sharp against Tszyu, until Tszyu adjusted and got the right hand home.

Judah looked hungry and sharp against Mayweather, until Mayweather adjusted and started getting the right hand (and body attack) home.

    Cotto TKO 7.

This is the best fight boxing has had had for quite a while. 2 fresh fighters with aggressive styles in their full weight class combatting for the future of the division.

Judah brings too much though.. Cotto, who I like, will end up on the canvas.

I totally agree, this fight should not be on PPV, but I guess they feel they will make alot of Puerto Rican sells that night!
