Feb... on PPV. Between Khan-Brook, and this, February is officially the month of the has beens. Who wins? I would THINK Thurman, as Barrios is mediocre as fuck, but if Keith is totally shot, maybe Barrios pulls it off.
Fucking joke. Keith Thurman never headlined a PPV in his prime. Not once. How the HELL is he a PPV headline when he's a shot old man? This sport... I tell ya...
He'd have to be REALLY shot to lose. Barrios sucks. Prime Thurman would look like Bob Foster against Barrios. But who knows how shot Keith is.
seems to me that none of the networks are interested in funding haymon anymore so he's just putting all this crap on PPV. Ortiz vs charles martin on ppv makes this ^ shit show seem like revenge the rematches.
What a sham Thurman's career turned out to be. Dude had so much momentum after beating Cherry Garcia... and then that was essentially the end of him.
In other news, Ortiz is fighting Michael McKinson. A half decent, tricky southpaw with a world ranking and no power. Ortiz should walk through the guy but I'm not too critical, it's not the worst fight in the world. Of all the revelations in the division, the only things I don't like are that Ennis has been pretty much left in the dark and that Crawford isn't in with a top dog. I mean, there's a simple fix to that and just have them fight eachother but we all know that ain't gonna happen. Spence-Ugas is a decent fight, Ortiz-McKinson isn't the worst, Thurman's coming back, and Buatev-Stanionis is a good, 50/50 fight. All in all, it's not the worst news for the division but it's hard to feel excited about anything which isn't Ennis being tested or Crawford fighting Spence.
And something I thought of before, is they might be testing the waters here and trying to get a Davis-Thurman fight for a minor title at welterweight. I'm dead serious. If Thurman looks like dog shit but beats Barrios (which is what's likely IMO), they could potentially move Tank up to 147 to take on an even further degraded Thurman while in the mean time, they request the WBA mandate the winner of Buatev-Stanionis to face the Super champion which would leave the regular title vacant. It'd be easy for a Tank vs Thurman fight to have the vacant WBA on the line and giving Tank the only feasible way of becoming a four weight world champion. It might sound far fetched at first, and tbh, it probably is, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is in the cards. Shit like this is calculated for fighters like Tank all the time.
It's not far fetched, because it was already proposed last year. If Thurman wins, it's either gonna be Spence-Thurman or Davis-Thurman. Knowing Keith, he'd probably rather Tank, because I'm sure he'd fancy his chances against Davis more than he would against Spence.
The Problem Is, Boots is Dishing Out $10 Million Dollar Ass Whuppings, Yet None of His Opponents Have Been Paid Anything CLOSE to $1Mil... REED
Took me a while to realise that this barrios guy is the one who got liquified by tank. Thurman, unless hes completely shot, should waste him
As I expected, PBC is planning to make Spence-Thurman later this year: Thurman-Barrios Could Become WBC Eliminator, Winner Fights Spence or Ugas, Says Thurman
The ppv cost is a joke. Thurman would have to be totally shot to lose to this guy. After this, Thurman will get a shot at one of Crawford or Spence.
Typical boxing. If Thurman and Spence do meet this year, it's lost all its luster as both are now past it. It should have happened in 2017 when both were at their peaks, but of course, that's all on Keith running scared.
