Buchanan did well in handling Laguna's speed. Now Laguna wasnt as fast as Camacho(then again no lightweight was), but he was a better techncian. I think in 12 rounder Camacho might win a close decision. 15 rounder I'd take Ken.
Real dilemma for Camacho as he was super fast but not entirely refined and not really very very strong or powerful either. I would put money on Buchanan, but not too much.
That seems fair. People either forget it or don't wish to acknowledge it, but during the earlier stages of his career, Camacho was a terrific Lightweight. As was Buchanan. I'm really not too sure who I'd favour. Well pointed out, though, that Buchanan coped with Laguna's speed favourably, & Laguna was certainly a better fighter than Camacho ever was.
Camacho had one great performance, against Jose Luis Ramirez who, while certainly a fine fighter, had the exact PERFECT flaws for Camacho to exploit... I always thought if Ramirez had known how things would have gone in Camacho/Rosario, he would have thrown caution to the wind and been busier in that fight... This fight would be horrible because Camacho would make it that way... Buchanan, in the uncomfortable role of aggressor, spends an irritating 12 rounds trying to force a fight and being slapped in the back of the head and held and the judges can't decide wether Camacho is outboxing him or if Buchanan is carrying the fight... it would be a stinking, horrible bout with a decision that would annoy the hell out of everyone
