    According to Dan Rafael.

-A May 24 super middleweight showdown between former unified titleholder Mikkel Kessler and brash puncher Edison Miranda imploded Tuesday when Kessler withdrew from the fight.

-"I have no idea why he pulled out. He must be afraid to fight Miranda," Margules told ESPN.com. "We gave them everything they asked for. Showtime gave them everything they asked for."

Margules said Showtime, which agreed to pay $1 million for the fight and beat HBO's offer, wanted the fight so badly that it even agreed to change the date of its "Showtime Championship Boxing" telecast from May 10 to May 24 to accommodate Kessler, who felt he needed additional time to train.

"The Kessler people haven't given me an explanation," Margules said. "They're acting like we're [messing] with them. I'm outraged. If their explanation is that we didn't meet their deal points, I have their points in writing. Everything was in the contract that they asked for. They wanted it to be a 10-round fight. We gave them that because they wouldn't even discuss a 12-rounder. They insisted on all sorts of things and we gave them everything."

-Among other concessions given to Kessler: The bout would not take place on Native American property or in Florida. Seminole Warriors Boxing is a Native American-operated promotional company based in Hollywood, Fla.

-Also, Kessler was to be paid 400,000 Euros (approximately $600,000 U.S.) and Palle would retain lucrative television rights in Scandinavia, Germany and other territories.

    It doesn't make sense.

I would go ahead and call Kessler a spineless danish pastry, but the odd thing is - he is pretty much a lock to beat Miranda :dunno:

If he stepped up to fight Calzaghe, it makes no sense to duck Miranda.

Miranda wouldn't be any tougher a fight than Andrade.

In other news, Danny Green retired for no apparent reason and Paulie Malinaggi is fighting Lovemore N'Dou again.

    Twilight Zone stuff.

REED Hopes he's WRONG, but there's a Very REAL Chance that Calzaghe TOOK Kessler's Heart that Night...

This Cat has Been Acting WEIRD Since that Night...This Marks the 2nd Time Kessler has Found a Reason NOT to Face Miranda...Like it or Not, Miranda IS a Threat...Some Compare him to Andrade, but Andrade has NOWHERE NEAR the Punching Power of Miranda...

Some ALREADY Crowned Kessler as "The Man" @ 168 w/Calzaghe Moving Up, but NOT REED:nono: ...Kessler Needs to PROVE It...& Beating Miranda is a HUGE Step N the Right Direction, which Kessler Seems UNwilling to Take...

    Get your Shit TOGETHER Kessler...

Unless Kessler is going to 160 to fight Pavlik, he has no reason to turn down this fight.

I doubt he'd ever make 160, hes pretty big. Seems to me he just doesn't want any part of Miranda.

it's possible that kessler might get a shot at one of the belts soon to be vacated by calzaghe. if that's the case, then he's not gonna risk his mandatory ranking by fighting a guy like miranda.

No, he doesn't. Which is why it is looking really bad for Kessler right about now.

He's behind Kessler in the WBA, WBC, and WBO rankings...basically the titles that were on the line in the Calzaghe-Kessler fight.

 Amazing, simply amazing,... you call Margarito at welterweight "irrelevant", but have shockingly installed Miranda as the man to beat at 168???...WTF!?..:eeeek: ,..if Kessler were to make fights with Bute, Taylor, Inkin, Froch, Mundine, Lacy or Bika, all of them pack a greater hoist than that loudmouthed Fraud, with the most ceaseless, irritating, press release squadrant boxing has ever known. Miranda is an opponent who was thoroughly crushed at middleweight, in an embarrasing onesided beatdown, he's worth fuck all, and is completely unproven in this new division.

I just can't understand why Kessler won't fight Miranda. I'd back him to murder Edison in a heartbeat.

What has Miranda done at either 160 or 168 to be considered some kind of elite threat?

Considering how much SHIT Miranda and his team have talked over the years, I wouldn't be surprised if there is something else to this story...

You're listing guys like Howard Eastman? Even John Duddy's beaten him at this point.

Willie Gibbs and David Banks.

Allen Green has proven NOTHING to this point in his career.

Miranda lost to Abraham and Pavlik.

What exactly do you think you prove with that list?

Miranda's an Elite PUNCHER @ Both Weights & REED Thinks his Wild Man Style of Fighting Matches up WELL w/Kessler's Technical Precision...

Somewhat Similar to Ricardo Mayorga vs Vernon Forrest...

It Still MEANT Something when Miranda Beat Eastman...& Obviously, the Abraham "loss" was CONTROVERSIAL...

    He should fight Librado Andrade.

Great B.A.D. match-up. If he proves he can beat that level, then maybe Kessler.

Mitchell Kane stole the post I was about to make...

Miranda is an elite puncher against average opposition. When he has stepped up to fight good competition, he struggles.

What he DOES do (and this I will grant him) is talk a FANTASTIC fight. If bullshit was fighting prowess, he be the undisputed Sooper-Dooper champion of all weights combined.

Kessler would tee off on him for fun. I couldn't imagine Edison getting anywhere close enough to Mikkel to hit him. That's why I don't understand Kessler's apparent unwillingness to take this fight.

Maybe you are right. Maybe Joe DID take the fighting spirit out of Mikkel. It doesn't make any sense to me any other way...

Sure it Did...ESPECIALLY N the Last Couple Years, Miranda has CLEARLY Fought a HIGHER Level of Opposition than Margarito has...

If REED's Not Mistaken, Miranda KO'ed Eastman Not Long AFTER Bernard Went 12 Cautious Rounds w/Him....
