Kessler is out of the Super Six and vacates the WBA title. Not clear whether it is the end of his career, but in the danish media they speak of a fear of brain damage and blindness, since he complains of persistent dizziness and double vision.

    Hopefully he´ll recover completely.:pathetic:

I hope that means Froch/Abraham and Dirrell/Ward will go ahead as the semi-finals, instead of wasting time finding a replacement for Green and re-scheduling Ward/Dirrell as a 3rd round bout.

That's a pity.....but it's as well that they got him out now before we had a serious fatality on our hands, same with Taylor.

I hope he has some $$$ saved and quits.

Hard to say where the problems originated- but I would hazard that Andre Ward's headbutts and Froch's fists played a large part. That and the beating Joe Cal put on him.:tick:

    Replacements???

Nah it sounds like they´ll go straight to the semi-finals.

Abraham vs. Froch for the vacant WBC title.
Ward vs. Dirrell for the WBA title.
Green for the homeless shadowboxing title.

Anyways- it is a relief they got to him sooner rather than later. Maybe him and Taylor can form a support group, like "VoF"- Victims of Froch, or "HOTSS"..."heroes of the Super Six"...

    This only enhances Mundines legacy...

Seriously though, I hope things work out well for him. Seemed like a good guy and was a pleasure to watch fight.

It's funny how things in Boxing --- as in life --- turn out. This all got under way with such high hopes for Kessler.

Super Six is really starting to run on fumes. Ward's a sloppy shit-fighter. Green is a journeyman. Abraham's boring as shit. Dirrell is painful to watch. They should just give it to Froch and be done with it.

Froch basically retired two of the divisions fighters and took the 0 off Dirrell. That and becoming the grand-father of a brand new bouncing baby boy called Chad. However, the only conclusion I can draw is that this enhances Roy Jones legacy.

Kessler took the 0 off Froch.

Based on your logic Kevin Howard retired Sugar Ray Leonard after Leonard retired following their fight...Leonard suffered a second detached retina after the Howard fight.

    "This enhances Kevin Howard's legacy"

Seems like Kessler should get to keep his belt and there should be an interim champ if he is only going to be off for 9 months.

    Damn! Hope he gets better.

I guess we had to know this was going to be a tough event to hold together for the duration.

Probably signed a waiver to vacate his belt should he be unable to continue in the Tournament.

Personally, it shows me he has some character by giving the belt up, rather then holding it hostage for 9 months to a year..............or however long it takes for him to come back.

It also shows he may have some doubts as to whether he IS coming back or not.

I would say that the Ward and Froch fights played a role in the diminishing of his visual capacity, wouldn't you? :dunno:

as well as the hundreds of rounds of sparring. More times than not injuries occur in the gym long before hitting the ring (an actual fight).

Damn.... hope my boy Kess is ok. If he does retire, then he went out in fine fashion pulling it out vs Froch. Proved to his doubters that he does in fact have heart.

I'm glad that bum Green is gone too. Back to ESPN2 for that fraud.

I hate to say it, but in a way, I am glad that the tournament is going to be over sooner. The matchups now are pretty much perfect for the tournament since Ward hasn't fought anyone left in the tournament and Dirrell has unfinished business with both AA and Froch.

I liked the idea of rematches happening in the tournament, but they don't usually generate the same kind of speculation that a 1st fight does.

I like Kessler a lot, but this sort of gives him a straight path to the finals since he (and/or Bute) will be the natural fight for the winner of the tournament.

I also like getting rid of Green. Not because I dislike him, but because he doesn't belong in the tourney.

Do the purses go up in the semi-finals?

If so, I wonder if that will make it any easier to make Ward-Dirrell.

I cant believe purses can get in the way of any match-up that's supposed to be part of a tournament. Didn't they figure this shit out ahead of time?
