REED's Interested N Thoughts & Opinions on Kevin Johnson, who just Fought Last Week on FNF, Winning a Decision Over Terry Smith...

REED Looooooooooves Johnson's PERSONALITY, his JAB & his HANDSPEED...He's Also Got Pretty Good SIZE (6'3, 240)...

The OBVIOUS Downside is his POWER (6 KO's or So, N 19 Bouts), but REED Thinks that Could B IMPROVED w/Better LEVERAGE...There's Absolutely NO REASON a Man of his Size CAN'T Hurt Somebody if he HITS them Right...

Granted, REED Isn't Expecting this Guy to B a Heavyweight SAVIOR or Anything, but he'd FAVOR Johnson Over MOST of the Current Beltholders, Except Wlad...

Anybody Else CARE 1 Way or the Other about Kevin Johnson???

I think he sucks. He can't punch, and he's sloppy as hell and he's never gonna amount to anything in the division.

The guy is not that good. He's quick and he's got a jab. It ends there.

"When I fight for a championship you will see the real Kevin Johnson" What a crock of shite! All he's got is what you see and it ain't much. He'd lose to a "Touch of Sleep" caliber fighter.

Ignoring knowledge and indulging in echolocation.
I've spotted him a few times, but in all honesty, his look is more spectacular than his amatuerish style, although some of his physical abnormalities can definitely work in his favour,.. I've never seen a black man with ice-blue eyes and straight red hair before, and his reach is shocking, he could swipe an assailant's chin with a hook, from the opposite side of a snooker table, he's also the butt of many distasteful jokes and stories around campfires in the texan wilderness, but none dare address him face to face. I think he suffers from basketballer's syndrome in the ring, although boxing's most talented heavyweights are decipitated into NBA squadrants, many of them have trouble tossing thier long limbs in a hurtful manner, which attributes to Kev's lack of knockout power, but one thing cant be denied, Kevin is a raw, grizzly son of a bitch, with a constant, cantankerous coyote-snarl, he raises his fangs at the sight of a butterfly that lands on a flower, he may lack technique, and power, but in a street fight, he'll pull your pants down and rip your testicles out with his teeth, that's proof of a strong jaw.

I absolutely love the guy. His personality(his strong suit) is also his downfall. He takes it into the ring. He tries to be a mixture of Ali and Holmes, two guys he admires, and it hurts him.

He has the power to hurt guys. I've seen more than enough of him to know that when his straight right actually shows up, it hurts his opponents.

He's actually gone so far as to say, "Pay me more money and I'll throw my right hand."

He's also someone who just wants to fight. If Star Boxing had another fight a week later, he would have begged to be on that card. I gotta give him credit for that.

And as cocky as he is, he actually appreciates the good heavyweights of today. He wants to fight them and is annoyed at having to fight "stepping stones."

Well, there's a lot of heavyweights I'd favor over Peter. He's very vulnerable.

I can't recall seeing any of Johnson's fights, but I'd still favor him over Peter.

if the new kj knocked out klitschko with a hook I'd rank that punch up there with when the original dunked on olajuwon.

in reality he talks a good game but is just a boring jabber who probably won't be entertaining enough to get a fight on any of the networks against the few names in that shitty division. unless mandated by one of the sanctioning bodies.

When I read "boring jabber" and the talk of Ali, I picture Larry Donald.

    Close?

He really reminds me of Bruce Seldon without power. That's not that much of an insult, either. Bruce Seldon was talented.
    .
I wouldn't pick him over any of the top guys, but he probably fits into the top 15.

Nah, the Larry Donald Comparison ISN'T Even Close N REED's Opinion...Larry Donald Fought PASSIVELY, which is Something Kevin Johnson DOESN'T Do...

Sure, Johnson is VERY Reliant on his Jab, but it's Almost like a POWER PUNCH when he Lands it, Similar to Larry Holmes or even Tommy Hearns...Johnson Jabs THRU Guys as Opposed to just TOUCHING them w/It....Johnson STOPS Guys N Their Tracks OR Knocks them Off Balance w/his Jab...Donald was More of a DEFENSIVE Jabber who Looked to Get AWAY from U...

Johnson is FLAT-FOOTED Mostly...& he's N MUCH Better Shape than Donald's JIGGLY Ass...

The "Ali" Comparison Fits N the Sense that Johnson TALKS to his Opponents DURING the Fight...He Plays to the Crowd, but N a GOOD Way...

& his Interviews R PRICELESS...Johnson's only "Boring" N the Sense that U can Pretty Much GUARANTEE he'll Win by Unanimous Decision Beforehand...

He had his hands full with Smith REED, the fight was WAY closer that it should have ever been. He may have a great personality, but that is all the greatness he will ever have.

His fight last week was BORING as hell and he did just enough to win just enough rounds. He should dominate a guy like Terry Smith.

The Ali reference comes from his rope-a-dope style.

He Didn't Have ANY Trouble w/Smith...N Fact, Smith APPLAUDED the Verdict, Didn't He???...

N his Own 6 KO way, Johnson DID Dominate that Fight...By the 3rd or 4th Round it was APPARENT who was Gonna Win...

Johnson even HURT Smith a Couple Times w/Overhand Rights & Uppercuts, as he was Leaning In...

The Fight was Only "Boring" N the Sense that VERY EARLY ON, U KNEW who was Gonna Win & HOW he was Gonna Win...The "Problem" w/Kevin Johnson is there's Very Little SUSPENSE N his Fights...

    That's a DECENT Analogy, Actually...

They're Both ATHLETIC, Powerfully Built Guys who RELY on their JABS More than Most....They're even Both from New Jearsey...

REED has Yet to See Johnson vs. Any PUNCHERS, but he HASN'T Exhibited the China Chin Seldon has....Johnson Seems to LACK that "Bitch" Factor that Seldon had, as Well...

Even IF he Suffers a KO Loss @ Some Point, REED Couldn't See Kevin Johnson Going Out like Seldon did vs. Tyson...

Johnson Throws AND LANDS a Good Amount of Punches...He Delivers them SWIFTLY & ACCURATELY...+ he Fights w/a CHIP on his Shoulder...

It Wasn't "Fight of the Year" or Anything, but the Johnson-Smith Fight was EASY for REED to Rewatch...

    Huh???:dunno:

He's GOT to Throw Nearly 30 JABS per Round, Not to Mention Right Hands & Other Shots...

By HEAVYWEIGHT Standards, he Throws a Good Amount of Punches...

Boy, U Guys R REALLY Turned Off by Johnson...
