I only watch this last night.

Without going into any analysis about either fighter's skills/weaknesses etc. I just wanted to say i thought it was a fantastic fight, between two guys who wanted to try to win with pride.

Good way to end the year.

Agreed. Both guys are very limited, but it was a brilliant fight. In fact he whole PPv was amazing, from the Mag7 right through Guzman, Ortiz & Khan-Maidana. £15 very well spent.

Agreed, I caught it a little late to, so didn't get in on the initial threads.

This fight is what boxing should be about. Khan showed some decent combination speed, skill, a lot of heart and a little bit of pop.

Maidana showed that despite not being the quickest boxer around, it is still very possible to cut off the ring against a speedy/slick opponent.

A simple tactic that other plodders should learn. Punch with conviction with both hands, don't just load up with one. Corral the guy with hooks from both the left and the right side and go to the body.......a lot.

I don't think Maidana will have a very long prime because of his fighting style, so enjoy it while you can. One of these fights he's going to get tagged in the 1st or 2nd round by someone, and he won't be able to get back up.

The dropoff will be Vivian Harris like after that.

wtf? i didn't even know guzman fought on this card. i guess it was televised in europe. i just checked boxrec and saw that he beat some scrub at jr. welterweight.

i know the guy's a weight cheater and is definitely past his prime, but he's still a serviceable guy (at 140 i guess).

Agreed Joe, I'm glad Khan showed he has heart and is tough despite his obvious vulnerabilities to some doubters here. Maidana was also much better than I thought.

Just thought I'd get that in here before it turns into a Biased British Media Hates The Klitschkos thread
