Awesome. Great arena, probably 75000-80000 seats for a boxing fight. If they sell out that place it will be amazing.

This is the only Heavyweight fight I am looking forward to. I like both Wlad and Haye but I am rooting for Haye.

Woulda been a much better atmosphere in the UK. German boxing events are like a morgue.

Agreed, but by all accounts Booth didn't think he could sell a stadium in the UK. Stamford Bridge was mooted but eventually rejected I read somewhere (Boxing News I think).

I am really looking forward to this one...

Still, 20k English would have made it more of an occasion than 80k Germans. Even the Americans create a better atmosphere than the Germans. Which is weird because the Germans have good football fans, and they like a drink almost as much as the English. Yet every time you watch a German fight you can practically hear the corner men scratching their asses.:dunno:

What makes you think the English fans won't travel to support Haye, Hut?

They were loud during Wlad/Sanders. Depends on the action I think.

Haye will need to up his level as a promoter here if he wants to really sell this fight. Most people have barely seen him fight. None of his fights are on tv in the States.

Tyson-Saverese was at Hampden. It was basically an unmitigated disaster. The main paper up here launched a MASSIVE campaign of negative publicity against Mike & made the event almost a fucking taboo. Ended up being half full at best. Shite stadium anyway, the third best in the city, and certainly totally unsuitable for a boxing event.

*edit* Tyson-Neilson was in a stadium too.

    Neither was a title fight:kick:

I originally thought about outdoor stadiums, though some indoor ones are as big I think (at least Superdome is)

    Meanwhile, there's this from BoxingConfidential:

I would certainly welcome that fight.

Ah, didn't read the Q properly. Tyson-Tubbs was in a Japanese stadium I think. (??). If not you might be looking back to Ali-Spinks II.

Lennox Lewis fought in the open air...so did Frank Bruno.

(I assume we're talking about stadiums and not constructed facilities...or bull rings.)

Did Lewis? In South Africa? I don't remember that being a stadium as such, it was maybe just an outdoor arena ala Casers Palace. Good call on Bruno though - the McCall fight was at Wembley.

    I thought it was.

I seem to remember reports of some rain (though not during the main event) and thought maybe blankets used in the corners of that fight, but my memory gets worse and worse so I can't be sure.

Tyson-Tubbs was at the Tokyo Dome. So was Tyson's loss to Douglas 2 years later.
