so what there are a LOT of people who like Larry Merchant so he has done a lot for THEM maybe not for you, but u can't generalize your personal preferation. So saying he has done nothing is still stupid.

For a lot of guys HBO wouldn't be the same without Larry - you can have your opinion of him, but don't pull a Hegman in terms of boxing yournalism. Merchant has done a lot.
