I would bet my house that Leonard stops him quicker than Tito and Oscar did.

Speed was a bigger problem for Nando than power was.

I could see it. Vargas was vulnerable to those well timed, precise shots in exchanges.

Vargas is one of those guys I have huge respect for, in the sense he took on guys like Winky, Quartey and Tito so early on in his career, he was obviously very good, but he takes a shellacking in this one.

Vargas is too good to have zero chances, but I wouldn't put it at more than 2% or 3%

"Leonard wouldn't go for the KO. His only chance of winning is via stink"

No, Vargas isnt good enough to have any chance against Leonard.

You cant argue any scenario in which Nando could possibly win. Not even a fluke KO because Vargas wasnt a big puncher.

He hits hard enough to hurt leonard, and if Leonard is off, i could see vargas squeaking out a win. But Anyway, this is a really moot point. We all agree that leonard should win clearly

Leonard handspeed is the difference here. Leonard wears him down for a late stoppage I think but it is also likely to go the distance since unlike the myth Leonard wasn’t some knockout specialist

Leonard was an underrated puncher. When he stayed on the back foot and fought cautiously most of those fights went the distance.

But when he sat down on his punches and really DUG them in, he not only hurt his opponents but got quite a few stoppages.

Similar to Floyd at the lighter weight classes, only Leonard could be a concussive hitter when he put mustard on his shots, whereas young Floyd was more of a quick, sharp puncher at 130-135, though moreso at 130.

The numbers alone don’t tell the whole story.
