And not a dry hump fest. I'm rooting for Castillo, and picking Castillo, but more than anything, I just want the fight to be a war, and not a hump fest. In other words even though I'm a Castillo fan, I rather see Hatton win if its a war, than to see Castillo win and the fight be a grapple match. The ideal situation for me would be for Castillo to win in a war. But lets just hope for action, hope the ref does his job right.

Agreed. I like both guys. I'm rooting for Hatton because I think he has more of a future ahead of him at this point, but i really could care less either way who wins. I also am hoping for a great scrap.

I'm feeling safer in my Hatton pick now. You are invariably wrong.:tease:

    It'll be a good fight, don't worry.

I think it's 95% because of both guys poor performances in their last doubleheader.

Personally, I'm basing it on Hatton being severely overrated as an action fighter. Seriously, when was the last time he was in an entertaining fight? It seems like so long as you're white and move forward, you're automatically labeled an action fighter.

His last fight (Urango) sucked, the Collazo fight was interesting in spots, but dull as a whole.

The Maussa fight had a spectacular ending, but was awkward up until then.

The Tszyu fight - effective for Ricky, but with no rewatchability whatsoever.

I mean damn, how much mileage does he get out of looking watchable against shot fighters and never-could've-beens? Al Bundy scored 4 touchdowns in one HS game, but still wound up selling shoes the rest of his life.

Jake, you're right, since Hatton is recognized as an elite fighter he isn't as entertaining as he was earlier in his career but I have high hopes for this fight nonetheless. I think it will be great, just a feeling. There's a chance it turns into a grappling contest but I don't know why, but I think it will be a trench war.

and try watching the Tackie fight. horribly tedious fight. basically, anyone Hatton can't stop by the fifth round he ends up humping for the final six, and leaves you nautius by the final bell.

I agree. regardless of who wins, the biggest disappointment would be if the fight blows.

and one thing about this is, it could totally stink in my mind, but others might find it entertaining. some people don't mind messy grappling matches as long as there's offense mixed in. me - i find it tedious as hell to watch, even if both fighters are doing damage.

What did you think of Duran-Leonard I?

I thought it was a good fight, but the clinching prevented it from being a truly great one.

exactly! that's a perfect example. obviously, both guys fought hard and did damage. and as a fight, you can hardly complain about it. but it's not a fight i find myself wanting to watch over and over again. like you said, lots of clinching, lots of stop and start.

actually, one of Duran's most entertaining fights, imo, didn't take place until 1989 against Barkley. and even the Hagler fight if you ask me. in those fights, he was in against guys who were stronger than him, so he wasn't always dictating the pace like he did at 135. consequently, he wasn't being held as much, and to me they're much more watchable than say, his fights with Viruet in which he was held constantly and it was like stop and start traffic on the freeway - no town and country smooth rides.

I liked the Barkley fight a lot too. Guys did hold Duran a lot, so I found a good number of his fights ugly to watch.

Up until the KO, his fight with Ray Lampkin was god-awful.

Im really thinking it will be a war. I think Hatton is kinda pissed off at the moment, that people are calling him a hugger. Kinda messing with his ego. I think hes coming with something to prove. Hopefull well see some of the ole' Hatton back.:blobbox:

    I hope so.
I think he beats a weight drained Castillo who is in reality, a super middleweight.

    I'm hoping for a WAR!!!!!

and EVEN though i picked CASTILLO to beat Casper...I HOPE...I HOPE...HATTON can pull it off....

    Hatton vs. Mayweatehr
    or
    Hatton vs. Cotto

are more likely than CAstillo vs. Cotto....and Mayweather would not fight Castillo again...and shouldn't

The Philips fight was the last, and really ONLY action packed fight in Ricky's career.

Yeah Fraud shouldn't fight Castillo again because we don't want to watch the stink associated with running around in a circle scared. Fraud is out to steal your money by any means possible, he doesn't give a fuck about "good fights" he'd lead his cock nibbling psychophants into a gas chamber if it would make him wealthier.

agREED on it being the last. The Magee fight a year or two prior was decent, though - the first one that caught my eye, regarding Ricky (and the only one where he was put on his bum  ).

The Stewart fight was watchable, but all one way. Then again, it's Michael Stewart we're talking about.

Come on, Hatton has been in PLENTY of exciting fights. Personally, I think he's past his prime. Fighters of his style and aggression don't last long, historically speaking. He is what he is and even though he's boring now; he should be applauded in some way, for adjusting to his eroding physical abilities and finding a way to win. Win and remain undefeated.

    He's a quality fighter.

going by stingerkarl's standards, i guess Kostya Tszyu is a light heavyweight.

tam-tam, didnt you say Tszyu weighed at 200 something between the leija & sharmba rematch?

    does injury lead to gluttony?

Tszyu was a cheater too i guess. he should've been fighting at 160. i think he would've knocked Hopkins out.

    Don't be smart :nono:

Injury leads to not being able to train and he likes his beer. But not doubt, Tszyu KOs Hopkins. Probably in five.

WHo else is there at 140?? This is the biggest fight in the division. Unless others lightweights move up or Hatton or Castillo move up in future fights, and Hatton's move wasn't to his satisfaction.

Castillo is on record saying he thinks Hatton is dirty fighter and holds a lot. He will respond in kind. Hatton will try to BULLY Castillo is the ring. (remember the low blow in the Tzsyu fight?)

I think the beginning will be ACTION packed with a lot of give and take.

Also free UFC saturday night(BJ Penn/Pulver and Ultimate Fighter finale)
