Christ I thought this might be something new. :: In fairness, its obvious how much his reflexes and general fluidity have declined.
One fight I would like to see is the Oleg Maskaev fight. I heard klitschko was stopped and down 4 times.
I remembered hearing that. Reid was a pro boxer for awhile also, but he apparently didn't do nearly as well.
Post the hbo highlight of him vs herbert hide where larry merchant referred to him as ,frankensteinian,
The story I read on that was Vitali hand an injured right hand and he was supposed to compete in kickboxing world championships in France after the tourney that he fought Makaev. His corenr stopped the fight after he hit Maskaev with a couple right hands, and was never dropped.
Reid suffered from a medical condition known as SGJ Syndrome. Statuesque Glass Jaw syndrome. Great physique, massive power in either barrel, but no chin at all. Clip him and you beat him. <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Dq9UJnY_XnE?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Dq9UJnY_XnE?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object>
Pele Reid had the worst chin I've EVER seen, EVER. Open the door too fast and the resulting breeze will have him out on his feet. The guy made Julius Francis look like Earnie Shavers and Orlin Norris look like a prime Tyson. He did knock Klitschko out in one though as a kickboxer, I've heard Vitali mention it in an interview before.
Reid was a big prospect at one stage, after knocking Wayne Llewellyn (another prospect at the time) in one round. Brendan Ingle was tipping the guy to be his first World Heavyweight champion, and then it all came undone in the British title shot against Francis. Then they put him in with Orlin Norris (for some reason) straight after that and he was sparked in a few seconds. After that they decided to bring him back a bit more gently, so they shipped over some fat African journeyman with man boobs to get his shattered confidence back...but he got knocked out again ::
No matter how many times I see a kickboxing match, It always takes me a second to remember that it is kickboxing and I find myself wanting to shout "HEY! HEY! YOU CAN'T DO THAT!!" when I see the first kick
I see a guy who moves confidently from southpaw to orthodox, has quick hands, decent movement, and looks like a bodybuilder. Jesus Christ, does he ever leave himself open. Those hands are way down or way out at his sides, and as soon as he's hit, his legs turn to jelly. That is weird to see. McDermott just outwaited him, took the incoming, and then rubberized him by degrees. Bizarre!
Already saw it, but he looked like a real bum. I think that Vitaly turned a corner after the Lewis fight, before that, everytime I saw him he looked mediocre. Sad that he was so afraid of Rahman that he ''retired'', and only came back when he had clearly detoriated as a fighter.
:laugh11: I met him once... He was a character. Big, fat meat hooks for hands. I'm pretty big and have decent sized hands but his hands had to be twice as wide as mine. He was one of those guys who with very little effort seems like he's about to break your hand when he shakes it. A death grip. He was very jovial, self-effacing.
You dont even know what decent sized hands are, what?...are you retarded? Everyone knows that decent sized hands and "technique" are forever and most certainly harmoniously intertwined. Assholehead:laugh11:
Wow Karl has lost weight. Poor Wolf. Skinned by the Klitschkos. Thankfully we had reps at his funeral. :scared2:
